We are in the market for a new Refrigerator.

We are trying narrow down our decision.

    We are doing the side-by-side.

Any information on Whirlpool vs Samsung?

We just bought a new Samsung, and are very pleased with it. We were pretty picky: Had to have LED lights, water/ice in the door, side by side, water filter, and counter depth. RSG257AA is the model. Course, you sacrifice some CuFt when you go counter depth. Samsung had a better repair record than several other models. However, we primarily purchased this one because it met all our requirements.

Consumer Reports puts Whirlpool at the top of the reliability charts. I guess they don't have enough data for Samsung because they do give them some good ratings but they are not listed under reliability at all. Just remember to make sure the color matches the other appliances exactly if you plan to sell the home anytime soon. I see a lot of houses where one newer appliance is a few shades off from the others and it looks bad.

    Hope that helps!

Our 5 year old Amana just died today. I can't believe it. I doubt it's under any warranty so I'll be looking as well. Does anyone have any opinions re reliability of the various brands? I'm looking through Consumer Reports and Checkbook. We picked the
    Amana because of it's reliability.

I'm also interested in hearing about where to buy. We've always used Bray and Scarff but it took them four visits for then to get the icemaker to work.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Recently got a Whirlpool Gold "French Door" refrigerator with water and icemaker. Works well overall, but have some issues with icemaker. But in general really like it. Also, it looks like it is Stainless, BUT isn't and you can use magnets on it :) Kind of a nice feature, and most new fridges have the option to have the "Satina" finish.

Just re-read your original post...I wouldn't buy at Bray and Scarff again either...they have been horrible about the customer service on the unit. Have you checked out HH Gregg, which is new in Sterling?

We bought a Samsung bottom freezer, side-by-side with water and ice in the door stainless and its huge, but has a standard footprint. We love it. It performs great and looks great!
