Anyone know what the end result of all the construction on Waxpool between Ashburn Village Blvd and Ryan Rd. (in front of the Elks Lodge where they have that retaining wall) is going to look like? It looks like Faulkner Pkwy. forks off in two directions...I can't imagine what kind of nightmare that's going to be. :(

If you are westbound on Waxpool from Ashburn Village Blvd, Waxpool will "become" Faulkner Parkway and you'll have to make a left turn to stay on Waxpool. You can see where that connection will be, since the curbing is in place.

So I guess once that connection is in place they'll pull up the road there where they have that little dividing wall jutting out into the road. Thats pretty messed up. I can't recall exactly where the entrance to that construction site and the elks lodge is in relation to the new construction (other than it's close) but it seems that may cut off access to those two places.

That would be OK if they would connect Faulkner with Broadlands Blvd. but we still see no movement on that. Broadlands Blvd. continues to end in a two-lane dirt road! Only in Loudoun County!!! Vacliff, any update on finally finishing Broadlands Blvd. to Faulkner?

Whaddayaknow. I saw a pig fly over the paving of Waxpool from the Greenway to Shellhorn today. Wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. And that little porker was flappin hard.

This is stupid. waxpool is really the best east-west road to get to broadlands.. and they keep making it HARDER! wtf

Fine.. want to de-emphasize using waxpool.. give us an alternative! Coming from Rt 28 what are we supposed to do? Coming from Rt 7 what are we supposed to do? they prefer us driving through residential areas rather then through-roads? Driving down through the village is painful, and belmont feels like an accident waiting to happen (or deer).

I see that they have started on the Claiborne/Route 7 cloverleaf interchange and they have cleared land at that end. I also noticed that Claiborne is now open between Russell Branch Parkway and Gloucester Parkway. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that there is any progress connecting all these pieces to the existing Claiborne Pkwy. in Ashburn Farm where it will cross the W&OD trail. However, once all these pieces are in place, we will have a four lane road direct from Route 7 to Broadlands (and beyond into Brambleton). Who knows when this all is scheduled to be completed?!

I thought it was interesting that even though the Gloucester/Claiborne intersection is not completely open, they already have a four-way stop sign there. btw..I also saw more broken glass at Broadlands and Claiborne this morning. When is something going to be at an intersection that really needs controls?

There is news about this. The design work, and funding has been put together, and the developer is saying that a traffic light will be in place 30 to 60 days from now.

There will be more on this and other changes at the Developer Update meeting sponsored by the HOA in October.

I see that the paving and striping has been done on Waxpool for a while now. Anyone want to take a guess how long it will be before they actually open all the lanes? It looks like they may be waiting on signage. This has to be the longest and worst-coordinated road project I have ever seen!

Doesn't it piss you off that it sat that way for months and months, then all of a sudden they're done in like, three days? I'm tempted to go out there tonite and move all the barrels myself...they'll never know until four or five months from now. :)

Actually, it's an accident waiting to happen. Right there where the barrels move over into the other lane/where the turn lane starts/where the turn-in for those townhomes (ryans corner) is...if you're coming towards that from broadlands in the non-barrel lane, and someone is pulling out from those townhomes, they tend to think they have a clear lane to pull out into when in reality, you have to get over as soon as the barrels move to avoid the turn lane your lane has just turned into. :(

Being from Pennsylvania, I used to jokingly say that the state flower there was the orange barrel...now I think Virginia is starting to qualify for this honor!

Remember, this is a developer proffered project ... that meant lining up all the developers to get it done at one time. If it was a state project, I suspect it would have been done a bit faster. How much faster ... pure speculation !! :)
