It seems like road work never gets completed around here. ;)

Does anyone know when they will finish the Ryan Rd. project, and the expansion of Waxpool between the Greenway overpass and up towards Ashburn Rd/Shellhorn?

When the unions say it will be finished. I believe for several people and departments involved in this project they are making it a career.

I believe its more a problem with weather delays, then scheduling the contractors. I'm fairly sure that all those improvements are done by the neighboring developers. Its not a county project, and the county, thanks to our state representatives, do not have any way to force the developers to move any faster.

My bet is they are waiting for those two communities to be finished.

They never seem to put the final topping on roads while there are still housing developments being finished.

No way its weather.. its been idle for months.

I live in one of the aforementioned communities (Carisbrooke) but find this forum very informative, and wanted to chime in. As explained to our HOA back in 1999,the people responsible for widening Waxpool between the Greenway and Ashburn Rd. is Terrabrook - and when we first found out about it, the road was scheduled for completion back in Fall of 2000 [xx(] I wish that the widening would finish sometime before the metro comes out to Ashburn!

Interesting. I wonder if Terrabrook is still on the hook for this? [?]

The information about Terrabrook being responsible for it is not quite true. Terrabrook was only required to provide a two lane improvement to the road. Each of the other develpments (Carisbrooke, Summit at Silo Apts., Alexan Townhomes) all had proffers to do a piece of the other two lanes improvement. Rather than approach it in a piecemeal manner, it was decided to do all the work at once. This delayed the start of the road improvement, but does not explain why it is taking so long to finish it.

Hey Dutch[Edited by Moderator] . That is not a union job. If it was a union job, it would have been completed a long time ago. Before you make such stupid comments about unions, get your facts straight.

That's the second time you've defended the unions on this same topic. Seems like a lot of work...kind of a contradiction, isn't it?

Actually ... they finished the initial base blacktop about three or four weeks ago.
