We actually got a first pass this morning at about 5am. There is another 6" inches on the road since then... but at least it's not three days of 18+" like it was after the last storm. We didn't have our FIRST plow pass until Monday afternoon last time.

Vestals Gap has a pretty decent single lane most of the way to Claiborne. It is snow covered but decent if you have AWD/4WD or FWD with snow tires.

The contractor was up and down several times today, trying to keep up. He did keep one lane open, thank you!

On Autumnwood (an HOA maintained street), the contractors actually would come out of their vehicles and SHOVEL some snow that they could not reach properly with their plows!

These fine folks did a 'kick butt' job on our street; my neighbors and I are VERY grateful for their great/hard work over the past 36-48 hours.

I would like to officially give major props to the snow removal crews.

HOA members, this post is mostly meant for your eyes! :D

We're on a developer street, and they've done well by us here, too.

It looked to me that contractors were doing VDOT and non VDOT streets, at least off of Village. I have been super impressed with their work. Sorry they didn't hit your street

We live a VDOT maintained road and its awful. All driveways are clear even out into the street but you can't go anywhere because we had one pass very early on Saturday morning. We even cleared the fire hydrant, but it wouldn't matter because the fire trucks would never be able to get up here. It sounds like the HOA maintained streets are in better shape than some of the VDOT.

Same here. I called them and they said they were "still doing primary roads and won't get to subdivisions until at least Monday."

    Great.

They now (1:30 p.m.) are working hard to make Frame Square almost a two way street again. Well done!

Watching them work on Welby Terrace right now. Gotta hand it to them. It takes a lot of work, and a lot of time. They've been relentless. Great job by the crew!

Yeah, I saw those... they have until Wednesday before I can call them.

Well, I hope my employer will understand if they don't come before then.

About an hour ago there was a VDOT pickup truck (not a plow) that was driving down Chickacoan. I guess they were checking to see how the roads are. Chickacoan is plowed but it is mostly one lane which can be tricky with the amount of cars that use it.

I saw the VDOT pickup helping out some people who were stuck on Windmill at Claiborne. Probably checking out the roads and also helping with disabled/ stuck vehicles.

Hey, we're headed home this morning after a weekend in the mountains. Does anyone know how the interstates are? 66? How are the roads in Southern Walk right now?

Brace yourselves; preliminary outlook/forecast calls for ANOTHER 6-10 inches of snow starting Tuesday around 6pm and lasting through Wednesday evening. The bulk of the snow is expected during the first half of the storm. The rest of the week and through the weekend calls for temperatures at or below freezing, so melting will be limited to areas having direct sunlight, and will be minimal. Expect ice to form after the sun goes down each day.

Hope you're all enjoying Snowpocalypse 2010....

    TIA.

I was told last night that parts of 28 were still only 1 lane -not sure how much of that changed overnight.
