Well, we had an American Idol thread and since this show is SO much better I thought I'd start one.

Anyone watching this show? Who's your favorite? Who do you think will win?

My favorites are Jordis, Mig, & Ty in that order.

I think Mig & Jordis will be top two with Mig winning the whole thing. The performaces of those two are just SUPER!

INXS is probably my favorite band of all time. I've been tuned into them since "The Swing" in the mid 80's. Saw them live several times, they were amazing each time.

My tastes seem to be contrary to many folks and I have never been a "American Idol" fan and happily ignore the show. Unlike apparently most other TV viewers in the US though, I've been eagerly awaiting "Rock Star: INXS" since the project was announced over a year ago.

I think it is a fabulous concept and never miss a show on CBS. I was bummed when Monday's show was moved to VH1 since we only get OTA broadcast channels, but that's OK, as I can catch up on the web site and the Monday show with the human drama aspect is, to me, the weakest of the 3.

I'm rooting for JD or Mig. No chauvinism here, but I just can't see INXS fronted by a woman, even one with tons of talent and beauty.

I'm listening the the free online INXS jukebox, even as I write this! There is a killer live version of "To Look at You" that I've never heard before and really rocks! This is a band for the ages...........

IMO, INXS has one of Rock history's greatest creative streaks. INXS's albums between 1982 and 1993 are just so consistently good, again, IMO, there is not a single weak track in the bunch:

    1982 Shabooh Shoobah

    1984 The Swing

    1985 Listen Like Thieves

    1987 Kick

    1990 X

    1991 Live Baby Live

1992 Welcome to Wherever You Are

    1993 Full Moon, Dirty Hearts

I was disappointed that "Welcome to Wherever You Are" seemed to bomb commercially, as I think it's one of their best works, if not THE best. Every track is a home run.

I like JD, He's amazing and I love the way he changes the songs to fit his style. Unfortunatly it does not always work for him. I don't think he will end up winning in the end. I don't think the remaining members of the band want someone with that much ego fronting the band.

I also really like Jordis but she really did a bad job last week with Layla. This week was much better.

I could not believe that the made Marty sing "hit my baby one more time". That was funny but he managed to pull it off. In the end I think it is between Marty and MiG to front the band. Both are amazing :)

Why not? That's what they had in the past and it worked.

Yeah, that's true too. Thing is Michael Hutchence was an original member and I imagine his ego grew over time. A little differnet when you ask a new guy to come in to "fill the shoes"?

rock bands need a big front person.. there is no doubt about that. You need a focus point.

They will go with Mig in the end. IMO :)

Personally I thought Marty would win hands down until Mig put on that incredible performce the last two nights.
I still think Marty will pull it off though.

All of these performers have been incredible from day one and all could and probably will be entertaining us in the future one way or another.

I amazed how many of my friends barely know who these guys are (INXS).

BTW Mig being Austrailian might have a slight edge if he ties with Marty and they both put on a superb preformance at the end.

performances of these people vs american idol performances...

    discuss :)

I think the american idol ones suck across the board for the most part compared to most of the performances here

Here is a little contest question.

The first person who can name the very famous rock star who is living amongst us in the ashburn area wins well I guess just wins. :D

Hint this person is in the rock and roll hall of fame and this is this persons main residence.

I know this person, but of course that probably won't help most of you or should I say any of you. :D

I count 148 members of the HOF, ~60 of which are bands/acts. That question narrows your choices to ~60 and ~88...not the best question to ask.

A better one would be, what subgenre was this person famous for (punk, soul, rockabilly, blues, psychorock) and what era were they big in?
