I have had the great luxury of working from home the last couple weeks. I thought it was just me, or our house, but every day just after 3pm there is this quick rumble (1-2 seconds) that goes through the house. At first I thought it was something in our plumbing - but I went outside at this last one - and our neighbor felt it too - as well as previous ones.

Today it was at 1000 and again just after 3pm.

My neighbor suspects it is construction taking place a street over. I have no idea how long this has been going on since usually I am at work around this time.

Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone know what it might be?

They're doing a lot of blasting for the houses across from Sunoco. We live nearby and the blasts rattle the house.

Do you notice if the blasting is done at specific times? Just curious...i am not yet convinced that my house isn't falling apart. ;)

Wonder what happened last night around 11:30. sitting on the couch and heard a boom and it felt like the hulk had rammed our outer wall. Couch actually vibrated for a few seconds!

It's been going on for a LONG time. I used to work from home 2 days a week (ended June2009) and would hear/feel it every day around 2pm. I felt it yesterday morning - sometime around 10am. I am amazed it travels so far - we are at the highest elevation up Ridgeway.

I'll try and pay attention to the time next time it happens. They run a siren for a minute first, then the blast.

I work from home too, felt it yesterday. Fairly commonplace - the quarry on Belmont Ridge is often a culprit.

Last fall we took a tour of the quarry on Belmont Ridge and they said they blast once a day Mon-Thurs at either 11:30 or 1 (give or take a few minutes). Fun tour with mega trucks, hope they do it again this year!

Yep, they HAD to wait until 7am to start - noise ordinance! Can't wait for construction on the Metro...

First time I was at home on a weekday - beautiful weather, open windows... which I had to close because of the noise. Oh, well...

I think they're just about finished breaking up the unearthed boulders across from the Sunoco and yes, it started at exactly 7:00am this morning. Will be glad when construction is completed.
