If they'd just move that darn airport and build a few roads in it's place we'd have plenty of alternatives and none would be crowded!

Cliff I missed that meeting and your presentation. Dalyn and I ended up getting there late and we had a non effective conversation with mr Snow in the school board parking lot as he was leaving with his small entourage of what I think were his aids :) Anyway I do remember you talking about about your presentation a little bit later. I have looked at the proposed master plan and do not see a road connecting LCP to 606 by on the run. Perhaps I have an older map or perhaps the wrong version.

Cliff and AFGM and you other HOA presidents need to band together to help influence the direction not just of your puds but what is happening outside the puds. Believe me the developers and politicians will listen if enough people stir the pot and keep doing it and always work toward a win win.

Barbara Munsey our planing commissioner representative appointed by mr snow told me not long ago that HOA's can have a lot of influence on development etc in the county and and have a lot of power to do so. Imagine the influence they can have if they all work together.

I don't know about 8:30 but around 8am 28 backs up to at least sterling blvd and I call that unacceptable especially now that the light is gone. The backup on waxpool is past the skating rink or at it at that time also. As I turn from waxpool onto waxpool at the rink.

Personally I have another week of school and my rush hour driving is over for the foreseeable future maybe once or twice a year if that. So my concern is more for the economic health of the county and the people.:)

I guess that's the difference when it comes to things like traffic. What is acceptable to one person is too much of a pain for someone else. Of course it could also be that some people like to complain regardless of the situation.

During the school year, Waxpool backs up past Ashburn Village Blvd going east in the mornings.

Would year round school be a viable alternative to alleviate some of the traffic mess?

I remember seeing a Claiborne Parkway that runs through Loudoun Valley Villages from Ryan Rd/Loudoun County Pkwy that I think will eventually connect to 606. Not sure if that will eventually tie into the Claiborne that dead ends at Croson or not, but that could be a good cut-through.

I see the road you are talking about but it is too far down. We need a road real close to the greenway on the south side where the very high dense development will take place.

The connection you are talking about will dump traffic on 606 too far down and create even more traffic problems on 606. If they have a connection closer to the greenway it makes it easier to get to 28 and all the business along 606. on the north side of the airport. The future network of proposed roads on the north side of the greenway is a maze that will create too many intersections and turns to be real effective for the very high dense development proposed on that side.

    Hi everyone,
I agree with everything. I work in Fairfax City and it takes me one hour in the mornings and over an hour to get home.

The longest part of my commute is from Southern Walk to the Dulles Toll Road. 28 South to Braddock to Fairfax takes 20 minutes (if I miss GMU traffic).

Coming home traffic begins at McLearn and is horrendous until LCP where I turn.

Good news - Innovation will be done by the end of the year and I'm hoping this will include the construction at the airport. I'm hoping it's all connected and the back-up will disapear.

Most of our intersections are a nightmare and not planned. I'd like to see more alternatives (as the ones suggested in this thread).

    Lee-
Because of where you live, you don't see the long lines of cars from southbound Ashburn Village Blvd turning onto eastbound Waxpool. Connecting Gloucester to Nokes will remove a big chunk of this traffic

You are correct but the major amount of new construction and high density will take pace at the intersection of LCP and the greenway that is ground zero for the highest density in the county with the worst proposed road system I have ever seen.

It just makes you wonder what the previous Supervisors were thinking! I guess they weren't. Maybe we'll find out more after the FBI investigation. But, boy are we feeling the effects now - and it's only going to get worse. That's what kills me - there really is no solution in sight. It's not like we can say, "Oh, it will be so much better when they complete the x parkway". There's nothing planned that's going to make a dent in the problem for the foreseeable future.

LCP and Waxpool should not be an at grade intersection with all the traffic that currently and eventually will flow through there.

Very odd today, as there was virtually no rush hour traffic at 8am on Waxpool or 28. Hopefully this will be the way it is for the rest of the week. :)

Because it's Monday - part-timers, flex-timers, and those that can work from home take off on Mondays. Tuesday is the worst because that's when all those people listed above make their way back into the office.

I never understand why traffic is worse after school begins again. It has only been 2 months since it was out...our neighborhood gets absolutely choked with car traffic for kids being dropped off at MILL RUN ES, when they DO provide buses. you could get off to work easliy if you didn't drop your kid off everyday. Not to mention how all those cars make it extremely difficult for us to back out of our driveway. Used to be that MILL RUN made every kid ride the bus, no walkers or drop offs at all. Sure would be nice if they reverted to that as I have seen many kids almost hit trying to cross the street!
