I can understand the frustration of motorists with bicycle traffic on roads with a speed limit over 35 mph., most of them are narrow and don't allow the extra space for a bicycle on the side of the road, or the traffic is flowing too quickly for a driver to safely respond to an obstacle such as a bike.

If you're driving on a neighborhood street, however, with every expectation of having pedestrians and bicycles in the roadway, then just calm down, slow down, and take a few extra seconds to make yourself known (if necessary) and pass safely.

redon was just making a joke. she was referring to the comments in this thread about meandering cyclists. not cyclists in general. the ones in the middle of chickacoan, or ridgeway, with their 5 kids and 2 dogs spread across the road. (<-----also a joke) :)

she also called (some) drivers rude and inconsiderate. redon, why all the hate? ha ha.

    apology accepted.

i agree that drivers need to be careful and considerate of bikers, pedestrians others. some are and some aren't.

i agree that drivers have a weapon at their disposal and should exercise EXTRA caution when others are sharing the road.

i agree that many bikers are responsibly looking out for their own safety. some do but some don't. some follow the rules of the road, some don't.

and if a biker gets hurt while not following road rules- THEY SHARE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR OWN INJURY. not all bikers ride like they wanna be speed bumps, but some do.

that's really all i am trying to say. i love bikers, my husband and son bike, and they are rule following bikers who don't trust drivers for a SECOND to look out for them.

Isn't 10:35 a little late to be up on a school night?

Has anyone noticed that there are some people around Ridgeway and surrounding streets who eschew sidewalks for their walks and instead use the main road for their daily/evening walks? Some of them walk near the middle of the road and I often think they are nuts because so many people often SPEED down Ridgway Drive...Im thinking there's an accident waiting to happen.

Speaking of speeding down Ridgeway Drive..I abolutely have been peeved at drivers/bikers who DON'T even bother to stop at stop signs or even signal which way they are going to turn. Likewise, I hate drivers who tailgate residents driving on the same road. Many of us are CONCIOUS of children in the area who may on a moment run out in the street after an errant ball or some other reason. We drive the SPEED LIMIT...*NOT* exceeding it. Have they realized that if you are caught speeding, its a $200 fine! If they are in SUCH A HURRY to get where they need to go, then leave the house/destination EARLIER so you have plenty of time to get where you want to go.

Sorry for venting but I'm getting tired of folks speeding down Ridgway Drive like its Daytona 500!!! :censored:
