    Yeah!!!
    From Panera...

Thank you for contacting Panera Bread. Hold on, we are coming to Ashburn. If all goes as planned, and there are no delays, then the Ashburn bakery-café located on Ryan Drive should open on or around the first of August.

Thank you again for contacting us. We hope you will enjoy Panera Bread in your neighborhood soon.

I see 2 paths that look like they come into SW. I did see a little bridge along the walking path that isn't yet open. I assume that will lead to Southern Walk Center. Any idea where the other bridge/path into SWC will be? Will it alos be off the walking path? Just curious...

Yeah, I've seen the little bride along the walkway towards the western end of SWC and would venture to guess another walkway will be put in near the eastern end. I'm just hoping the construction moves swiftly and on time as I'm looking forward to walking over there, grabbing a tasty beverage and some good food at my leisure! Cheers

Do you mean Glory Days? I can't wait for that place to open. If anyone knows exactly where that other path is going to be, please post. Thanks!

Yes, Glory Days. I've heard some great things about the one in Fairfax. I'm hoping the other path goes directly from my back door to Glory Days' front door =)

Oh yippee. Another McDonalds and Taco Bell. Because already having one of each within 3 miles just isn't quite enough.

We asked about this, evidently Burger King didn't want to pay what they were asking for the land. I have no idea what the rate was, but BK didn't want to shell out.

Now, if that's a full Taco Bell, that would be a good thing, as they have items that you can't get at the KFC/TB store. However, I would have liked one of its sister stores instead: A&W or Long John Silver.

I was hoping for a healthier option, like O'Naturals or something.

The irony in the name of the Southern WALK Center is that if you try to walk from the Glory Days end to the Harris Teeter end you're doomed to become a SUV speed bump. Look at the map and you'll notice nothing but drive-thru pavement between the two ends of the Center. Only way that you might safely walk from one end to the other is if you traverse along the to the yet-to-be built sidewalk along the north side of Wyndridge. Though you'll have to dodge the cut-through-the-Center-parking-lot-to-avoid-slopping (slowing almost to a stop)-at-the-stop-sign traffic. And unless they install stairs, ladders or siege towers, there will be no human way to scale the retention wall that runs the length of the backside of the Center on its north side (adjacent to stream valley). It seems a no brainer to me that the SW Center developers would construct easy ways for the SW homeowners who live just north across the stream valley to safely access by foot. But as far as I can see this Center is designed for consumers who arrive by motor vehicles and perhaps bikes, but not pedestrians.

There is a bridge that crosses the stream at the eastern end of the center that will connect up to the walking trail behind the townhouses.

I went to a Bear Rock Cafe in Raleigh, NC this weekend. I thought it was pretty good. I think it will be a nice addition to the neighborhood when it opens. It is along the same lines as Panera with quick sandwiches, soups, and individual pizzas. With that and Glory Days, all my time may be spent at that shopping center.

    Cliff---
I live in one of those houses right by the bridge you mention. It was nice they put that path behind our house..and then built the bridge over the stream---but do you know if they're going to cut a path from the other side of the bridge to the shopping center? i don't own a machette to cut my way over there.

They're supposed to complete the trail when the shopping center opens.

    Great Thanks!

while we're talking those patch of woods right there---> :offtopic: do i report to the HOA a few dead trees back there so they can be cut down before they end up in someone's fence? Half of one already snapped and laid on the trail for a few days. Is this an HOA responsibility to come cut them down---or should i take a chainsaw to them?

Depends. I don't know if the area is still maintained by Van Metre or if it is maintained now by the HOA. If you are concerned, contact Wes and let him know the area you're referring to. If it is owned by the HOA, the trees are dead, and are a threat to homes, we usually have them removed. If the area is still owned by Van Metre and these conditions are present, Wes can note it to be sure Van Metre addresses the problem before the HOA takes ownership of the property.

Will there be a sidewalk or path along the length of Demott, from Waxpool to the shopping center?

Don't know. You'll have to ask Van Metre. That area will remain under the control of the Commercial Property Association and will not be turned over to or maintained by the HOA.
