Are there plans to get the floor matting down again in the bathrooms? The floors get pretty messy with people tracking dirt in and then the floors being so wet.

Also, what is the policy (if any) for doing fifteen minute breaks (or a second quick 5 minute break on the :25) on hot days?

As of right now there are no plans to put the matting back down at Van Metre's request. There was a new flooring applied that is suppose to be anti slip and much easier to maintain. As you and I have seen that is not the case and I am meeting with Van Metre and the manufacturer on Wednesday to see if the flooring was installed incorrectly as I believe.

As for the 15 min break last year that was put in place because of all the accidents we were having that closed the pool. The only pool this year that I have retained those breaks is SB as they work effectively in keeping small kids from inhaling too much water. (A small child inhaling even a teaspoon of water can actually drown over several hours) As of right now I have not discussed going to 15 min breaks at either of the other 2 pools. However if the guards feel there is a need because of the excessive heat I hope they call it that way. Additionally the CDC changed their requirements for closing a pool so there is not the need at SW or CC at this time

    Staci -

FYI - one of the shower heads in the womens restroom at the SB pool was broken on Friday (the shower on the left). It might have been fixed by now, but thought you would want to know.

Thanks for the incredible amount of time you put into volunteering for Broadlands.

Not that I go to the pools (need to be in the shade and not enough exists) but don't you still do 15 minute breaks so the adults can go in the pool without kids in it?

Just an fyi... not complaining at all... I've been to summerbrooke twice in the last few days when it's been around 100 degrees and fully expected to see more frequent breaks than once an hour due to the heat. We were there maybe 2 hours at a time - certainly not all day, everyday - but I haven't seen it. I've still only seen it at :50 on the hour. Again, just an fyi. Your post above made me think you were expecting summerbrooke to be breaking more frequently.

They had been doing 5 min at the 25 and 10 at the 50 so I am not sure what has changed. I will find out. I am not opposed to only doing 1 break but I am not so sure it is the best for the little ones.
But thanks for the heads up

Maybe parents should start taking responsibiltity for their kids so that the whole blowing the whistle things is not needed anymore. I'm a mom myself and it would never ever cross my mind that I need to wait for a whistle to decide if my kids had enough heat, action or whatever!!!!

speaking pf the pool- is there a DRESS code? a little bird told me there was a young woman wearing a thong at the pool recently.

while I have no problem personally with thongs, are they appropraite at a family, neighborhood community pool, or should it be save for your next trip to Brazil or private pool party with your other hot friends?!?!?

There needs to be a policy against thongs simply to reduce overcrowding at the pools. Without such a policy, how many fathers do you think would be "volunteering" to take their kids to the pools every day? :)

On Monday morning I did see both a male and a female at Summerbrooke in, well, let's just say less than fully covered. Thankfully most kids at Summerbrooke are too young to pay attention or even care.

well, kids aren't BORN ashamed of their bodies- that's taught in this culture! :)

i;m all for making one of the pools all nude to get us past these inhibitions of shame over physical imperfections... :O
