There is a large black cat (not "Sunflower", the hair is much shorter) that has been frequenting Windover drive lately that appears to be pregnant. Does anyone know if this cat is someone's pet? I have seen her around off and on for a few months now, and she does not have a collar or any other indicators that she is a pet. If she is not claimed, I will work with the Humane society to trap/spay her.

    Thanks

Flevine, thank you for caring about the cat and trying to get her off the street. No doubt she is homeless if indeed she is pregnant! Hopefully, she is domestic and trappable. Good luck.

Thanks. I just want to make sure that I don't inadvertently spay someone's pet cat! I don't mind having fixed strays in the neighborhood (they help counter the mouse/rabbit population!). Fertile strays are a different story entirely.

If you trap, neuter/spay and release her, ask the Vet to put a V notch in her ear. It will let others know she has been fixed and she is a stray.

    She'll definitely get 'notched'.

If this is the same black cat with a light blue collar, I believe she belongs to someone on Stonesile Pl. We have talked to the owners several times over the course of 2s year b/c they allow her to roam the 'hood in the Ridgeway/Sunstone area.

Our issue is she (the cat) uses our landscaping and driveway as her bed & toilet for the past few years. I don't have the patience to deal with a cat that won't move when I need to pull in or out of my driveway or has stalked my toddler in his own yard.

I called Animal Control on Saturday after I had yet another run in with this cat, I say spay the cat, it is the responsible thing to do and send the bill to the pet owners.

I think I've seen that one too, but I see no collar on this one. Stonestile is pretty far from our house, but cats do like to wander...

If it is the cat I think it may be, it belongs to someone and lives outside on the porch of a home directly adjacent to the townhomes on Windover. It is a very nice cat that just does not/cannot live indoors. I believe it has a small white identifying patch.

Cannot remember if it is a male or female, but I think I remember the owner saying it was fixed

I would be the 'owner' of said cat. She is fixed. She bestowed us with a litter of 5 kittens a few years ago. After successfully adopting them out, the Humane Society agreed to get her spayed if we would continue to feed her. She's a perfectly nice cat, but very skittish. She would not make a good pet, and definitely would have been destroyed if we had left her at the shelter. She'll let me pet her... but only when I'm out there to feed her. As I said before, having the cats around is no big deal (it costs me $12.50 for a 25lb bag of food that lasts 6-8 weeks), but I certainly don't want them contributing to the local cat population! FYI - there is another gray cat that hangs around too. He has no tail, and he has also been fixed. He hangs out in the storm drain system most of the time, but we were able to trap/fix him. He also makes the first cat look downright domestic!
