    Hi,

My daughter is starting daycare (winwood - toddler room) in a couple of weeks.
Though she was in home day care before when she was 12 months, this is the first time she will be entering a corporate daycare facility.
I am looking for advice on how to make this transition smooth for her (and me). Appreciate all your inputs.

    Thanks.

If you can...I would bring her to her new school and let her explore it. This method helped with my toddler.

The one mistake I made during the first week, is I lingered and it made the transition very hard for him. The 2nd week I simply handed him over and kissed him good bye.

Also if you daughter has a comfort item (small blanket, doll, stuffed animal etc)...I would recommend you bring it. I instructed my son's daycare to only give him "elmo" if he was inconsolable and during nap time.

The transition can be difficult. For me the reward of having my son come running into my arms at the end of the day is the best part of my day.

Just an FYI - My daughter is also at Winwood in the toddler room. I agree with the previous post to go there early so your toddler can get used to the new location. That said, you will love this room. The teachers in this room are remarkable and my daughter has learned so much in this room!

Is this the Winwood on Hay Road, or the one off of Belmont Ridge? If it's the Brambleton location, my daughter is in that room as well and LOVES it. The teachers are fantastic and are really good at helping the kids adjust - a lot of kids have their first daycare experience at that age, so they have tons of tricks to help the kids settle in.
