I was wondering if there was some kind of tree inspection done for the common areas. I read in the March newsletter that Jeremy and Care of Trees does an inspection in the Spring but given they can't inspect every tree, I'm wondering if some consideration can be given to the trees behind the townhouses on Welby.

Back in March a tree behind my TH rotted and fell and thankfully the healthy tree's branches next to it kept it from falling into the house, allowing Jeremy time to cut it down. Just last week another tree on the other end of my row fell during the mad storms and luckily missed the houses. While the trees look healthy enough, I'm concerned with the amount of erosion and potential root rot from all the rainwater that collects and sits in that area of woods behind our houses. These trees are beautiful to have and look at but I'm often concerned of something tragic happening when one of them falls into a bedroom on an unsuspecting sleeper.

Anyone know who I need to talk to and if something can even be done?

We live on Welby too, back up to the tree line, and was wondering who is responsible for the trees. I am afraid that if one does fall, we will be without a house. :( We have some branches that we can reach when standing on our deck. Please advise! :)

Go ahead and cut the branches encroaching on your property.

If you have specific concerns about trees near your house that are on common property you should contact that HOA office during business hours

All of the trees on Welby that back up to this row of town homes have been visually inspected. Two trees - one ash and one pine were removed as they were 'suspect'. As trees are living organisms, we can never be 100% positive that they will remain completely intact. Additionally, Acts of God substantially change the game, so you can never predict what might happen. Also, everyone has the right to prune branches back to the property line so long as they do not cause damage to the trees. Enjoy your beautiful woodline!!

Problem now...the branches are almost to the deck...not something we can trim from the deck and would have to be on a very HIGH ladder to do...not something we are willing to do for trees that are not ours...looks like I will be contacting the HOA with help on this!

You can hire a arborist to trim back the branches if they are too high to reach from the ground.
