It's an interesting idea, but the comments on Amazon talked about missed scenes and false triggers. I really like the idea a lot though.

Just playing around at home I've had very good luck with Honeywell dual tec sensors that combine IR and K-band radar, haven't had a false trip yet. The advantage these sensors have is that the whole world is not moving, just the part that they see.

Vitamin D software you mentioned looks like it might be neat to play with, thanks for pointing it out.

 

I just downloaded the free demo version using with a low end panasonic ip camera - this is pretty cool!
