Come to Tuesday Tales at the Community Center at 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday until further notice. Listen to a story and do a simple craft. There's a $1 fee for craft supplies.

All ages welcome - we try to keep the craft simple enough for younger kids to enjoy but older children can add more details.

If you have any ideas for books or crafts, please email Jan Newell at the Nature Center (jnewell@broadlandshoa.com).

Stay after each week for a few minutes to help come up with craft ideas (or get the craft ready) for the next week's Tale.

Check back here for the upcoming schedule, if we get it posted.
If you want to be on the Tuesday Tale email list, contact Jan.

The Tuesday Tale for February 25th is Fawn at Woodland Way. We didn't have Tales last week due to the weather so the schedule set back a week. We'll be making bird feeders out of 1 gallon plastic bottles and filling them with some bird feed.

The March 4th Tale will be "In a Nutshell" about an acorn growing. We'll be planting some lettuce seeds (which germinate quickly) in some pots since I don't have acorns.

Contact me at the Nature Center if you have any questions or would like to sign up to come to our Tuesday Tales at the Community Center.

The Tuesday Tale for tomorrow, March 4th might be In a Nutshell or another story about growing. I get my books from Hillside Elementary (thanks to the librarians there for all their help) and the book I picked for tomorrow is on display. The craft is still the same:

Kids will decorate a small terra cotta pot and saucer with crayons (and their imagination). They'll take home the pot, a bag of dirt (which I'll pre-bag to avoid the mess of playing with dirt) and a baggie with lettuce seeds they've soaked on a wet paper towel.

You can watch the seeds sprout (in 2-3 days), then plant them in the pots to watch them grow. You'll have lettuce for sandwiches in a month or so, I hope. Or you can feed the rabbits by setting the pot outside (after it warms up a bit outside so your lettuce doesn't freeze).

We're getting pretty crowded so please come to the Kid's Club meetings (in my calendar - on 3/9 and 3/11) to talk about adding new activities for kids.

See you at the Community Center -

Although Tuesday Tales is in 1/2 hour, I thought I'd still post the story for today in case someone checks here before heading out.

We'll be reading Bumblebee, Bumblebee, Do You Know Me? by Anne Rockwell. We'll be doing a craft of making a flower from cupcake papers and cotton ball with a scent added to make it smell nice. Thanks Christina, for the ideas and supplies.

I also have iris bulbs for everyone to take home to plant - 3 each. They're already growing so kids will see results quickly.

See you at the Community Center at 10:00.
