Interesting ... since when is 'ROW' owned by one company, especially in the 'North' where OB is not operating (nor would I expect anyone in the North wanting them to).

Just a heads up to everyone, I had Verizon FiOS (upto) 30Mbps/5Mbps at my last house and it's not much greater than what openband provides.
There were times when I was only getting 15Mbps, 10Mbps, outagages, no service for days, hardware failure, etc etc.
Although, their FiOS TV service is far, FAR superior than OB at a lower cost. So if you are overall "satisfied" with OB, I personally wouldn't hold my breath for verizon, as it did have issues from time to time as any provider does.

And dont forget they have to dig trenches in your yard, your neighbors yards, your other neighbors yard, to run the initial service line. been there done that. For me it was fine because the service box was right at the property line. But when my 2 neighbors down the street ordered fios , guess what... verizon had to dig three 4'x2'x4' trenches again, across my front lawn (my lawn never properly recovered), and other passing houses as well, and my 2 neighbors next to me, reported that their driveway was damaged from the "torpedo", and the contractors never came back to fix it, they
bandaided it (this happened twice). we were not happy at all...
They also hit the powerline that knocked out the power to my house, yah that was a fun night. Dominion came out... fun fun fun...
When I asked the contractor, "so what happens if my other neighbor decides to get FiOS, will you have to come back to dig more holes?" the reply was "Yes." funny too cause before my power went out I was watching disneys' Holes.. haha lol

I had some other property damage, that I could not prove, so I dropped the issue, and paid out of pocket to get it repaired.....sigh....

So for those thinking about getting FiOS, good luck, I wish you the best.

I would definately recommend getting the FiOS TV.

Yes it is a 12 month contract. and you get a discount, otherwise, month-to-month is slightly more. I also thinkg us Virginians get the VA discount for the 30/5 service, HIGH5, all my MD friends were so jealous... muhahaha

    GeorgeSC-
Don't forget that 75% of Broadlands does not have Openband.

    Cliff,
Thanks for the info, I actually didnt know this, but, it was more of a FYI, and for people who are thinking about getting it.
Wanted to express my experience with Verizon FiOS because not many people have had it.
