    JOB SUMMARY:
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforces a variety of federal antitrust and consumer protection laws. The Commission seeks to ensure that the nation's markets function competitively and are vigorous, efficient, and free of undue restrictions. The Commission also works to enhance the smooth operation of the marketplace by eliminating acts or practices that are unfair or deceptive. Finally, the Commission undertakes economic analysis to support its law enforcement efforts and to contribute to the policy deliberations of the Congress, the Executive Branch, other independent agencies, and state and local governments when requested.

The Office of Public Affairs is charged with identifying opportunities and executing communications campaigns to promote FTC activities, programs and the work of its people.

The FTC pursues vigorous and effective law enforcement; advances consumers' interests by sharing its expertise with federal and state legislatures and U.S. and international government agencies; develops policy and research tools through hearings, workshops, and conferences; and creates practical and plain-language education programs for consumers and businesses in a global marketplace with constantly changing technologies. The FTC's work is performed by the Bureaus of Consumer Protection (BCP), Competition (BC) and Economics (BE), aided by seven regional offices and other FTC offices. The Web Content Manager position is located in the Office of Public Affairs.

FTC.gov is the agency's official website and primary online presence. The site receives roughly 3 million visits (15 million page views) per month, from about 300,000 unique visitors.

FTC.gov provides critical information to the public, including:

news about media announcement and events, educational materials with tips and advice for consumers and businesses. In addition reports and legal guidance for experts and key stakeholders, such as attorneys, economists and congressional staff. Also an archive of official FTC decisions and documents.

The FTC is planning an overhaul of FTC.gov, to transition the site to one supported by a content management system like the ones behind business.ftc.gov and OnGuardOnline.gov.
