We've got relatives from Hawaii in town. They want to try MD blue crabs...

    We're looking for either:
    1) a place that serves all you can eat crabs
    or
    2) a place to buy a bushel to take home - near Ashburn preferably

    Any suggestions?

Maine Avenue, downtown. It's not close, but it's the best for crabs. Also, check to make sure they're in season.

Nothing is close to ashburn. My best suggestion is Captian Pells in Fairfax City. They are located on Route 29. Very easy to get to. They have been serving crabs since I was a kid living in Fairfax City. Can't beat them. You can eat there or get them to go. http://www.captpellscrabcakes.com/

If you MUST buy them yourself and cook them, take the time to go the waterfront downtown and buy them fresh. http://www.pps.org/great_public_spaces/one?public_place_id=220&type_id=8 or http://www.culturaltourismdc.org/information2550/information.htm?area=2531

It really depends on how many you think you can eat or do you want to prepare them yourself. 4 adults can usually eat almost 3 dozen.

    Have fun

Didn't realize it was on the chopping block. Found out online it's called BJ's Crab Shack http://bjcrabshack.com. It's got some decent reviews on the internet, too. Maybe your last chance to try it?

I don't know if it is or not, just commenting for my own amusement.

I just check the website, want a little crab with your beers?
