I have a confession to make. I like to hear myself talk! I was just wondering if I could get an honest poll of how receptive you are to the opinions of others. Please fill out the attached poll.

..the options listed assume you are only here to debate. That is such a narrow vision of what the discussion forums are actually about - and actually only represent a small fraction of actual posting activity.

The question is not why you visit the boards, but how open you are to the opinions of others on the boards. Two completely different issues.

I visit to read the posts which kick-starts the brain after writing documentation.

It depends a lot on the context. For restaurants, contractors, and local businesses I love the exchange of opinions here because they help me focus my limited time on places others recommend. For politics, the hospital issue, stay-at-home vs working moms, and other highly charged issues, I do not find that the arguments here have changed any of my opinions. I usually carefully consider the comments here, just in case they might change my opinion, but it hasn't happened yet! And some of the debaters here get downright annoying (self-glorification, rumor and fear-mongering...thank goodness for Iggy).

agreed here- it depends on how educated i am on a matter if my mind is made up, or if i come here to see both- or all 5- sides to the issue. for instance, no one can convince me that ANY burger in town is better than Fosters, but i went from opposing the BMRC to being on the fence.

Ummm, i case you couldn't tell from the choices, the poll was meant to be humorous. I didn't expect to glean scientific conclusions from the results!
