More and more people tell me regularly about their desire to create habitat in their own landscapes, and I’m excited to hear of their enthusiasm for using native plants in their gardens. Together we have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on our fellow creatures.

Just as often, however, I get questions from these same folks—How can I create more habitat? What native plants are the best for my location? How can I combine various native plants for the greatest effect in my limited space?

In this article, I hope to offer some guidelines to help gardeners with these same questions. And since we are currently in the depths of winter, now is a great time to plan what changes we can make this spring—and get prepared to plant.

Article is posted at Broadlands Naturally website.

Janice will be having plant sale at the Earth Day event and in the fall in Broadlands. So before you buy your plants check our her native plant selections.
