Hello, I am interested in hearing any personal experienes (good and bad) with Willow montessori. I have a 15 month old going to Chesterbrooke and planning on shifting her to a different school. Rest of all the area schools and daycares (bean tree, boyd, Belmont greene, Minnieland etc) have a long waiting list. Please do let me know your experiences and specifically with the toddler class rooms.

Thanks a lot for the info.

we've enjoyed Willow overall, they've had a few growing pains like anyplace else, but i think most of it has been worked out this year (they hired a new director). The owner's (Paru Rellan) heart is really into Montessori. As for toddler classes, I am only familliar with one teacher, Ms. Fatemeh, if you can get into her class, I promise you'll be thrilled. Hands down, she is one of the best Montessori teachers out there.

Last January all of the Ashburn MOMS Clubs (Ashburn Farm, Ashburn Village, and Broadlands) hosted a "Preschool Forum" to share information about our local preschools. Information about the preschools in our area was available and moms with children in the various schools were present to speak about their personal experience with the teachers and schools. So you didn't just get the school sales pitch, you got real life experience and comments from the parents!

In my opinion, it was an extremely valuable resource and I am happy to say that we will be doing one again from 10am-12pm on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Mills Recreation Center at 43895 Grottoes Drive in Ashburn Village.

The preschool forum is open to all MOMS Club members, as well as to the general public, so even if you are not a member, please feel free to attend. We’re happy to share the information with all the parents in our Ashburn community!

The preschool forum is being held on a Saturday to make it easier for moms to come without children if they choose to do so. However, children are welcome to attend; we just request that those bringing children sit toward the back in case the kids get restless.

We hope this will be as valuable an experience for our Ashburn moms as it was last year!

For more information, please PM me or contact your local MOMS Club chapter.

    Minnieland:
We toured Minnieland today, nice facility. They believe in positive responses as disciplinary action instead of negative. Instead of saying "No, don't do that" the response is "Why did you do that and how could you better handle the situation?" The place was clean and their classes through the day looked good. They have a concept whereby kids work on a book during the week and touch a major subject, math, reading, science, etc and bring it all together at the end of the week. I thought she said they have one teacher with a 4yr degree, the others get regular training and certifications. Cost for two kids looks to be near $25k

    BeanTree:
We looked at this one about six months ago, got on the wait list, still no word. Impressive place. If I recall, we can only do the full day kidnegarden instead of having our son get picked up from Hillside in the afternoon. We would need to do their full-day K. For both our kids the cost was close to $37k/yr - ouch!

    Willow Montessori:
They sent literature, with postage due. :) I hope that is not a sign. Hopefully we can get a tour soon.

Additional thoughts and commentary are appreciated.

I'm thinking about moving my 18 month-old to Chesterbrook. Could you PM me and let me know why you moved your child?

    Thanks
