We have two large windows in the master bath that are the back corner of the house. For reasons beyond me, neither of them are windows that can open? We are thinking of having one of them replaced. Fresh air is so much more effective for ventilation and moisture problems. Any thoughts on cost? Any recommendations on Window Co's? And why would the builder do that in the first place--was it an upgrade to have windows that open? We are an 11 year old Van Metre Elliott model. Thanks!

because builders suck and will do anything to put more profit in their pockets :) In our block we are all Ryland and it's horrible as well. The big problem with our house is not only do the builder-grade windows suck, but also we have no house wrap and bad flashing, so everyone has the same issues and no recourse... good times. If I replaced my windows I would go with a name brand like Andersen or Pella or really do my research before deciding on what to go with.

On a side note, we had a bunch of door-to-door saleskids from Power Windows and Siding in Greenbelt. Avoid them, they are high pressure sales apparently, according to lots of google reviews.... I cancelled my "free estimate" with them.
