I went to see a show at Wolf Trap last night and was shocked that I had to buy an extra ticket for my 18 month old. All babies regardless of age are required to have their own ticket.

Wow - that's surprising!!!! Were you on the lawn or underneath in a reserved seat?

The lawn. They said if I had a reserved seat that I could buy a lawn seat and he could sit on my lap. Good thing the show was not sold out or I would not have been able to go.

I always thought that policy was intended to discourage people from bringing babies. When I had babies I thought the policy stunk, but I'm sure the people without kids there are glad they are limited.

I used to work there years ago and that has always been the policy. In fact, most of the theaters in the area have this policy and some will not even allow a child younger than 2 in. If you have inhouse seats to a sold out show and bring a baby, they will still sell you a lap pass. They will not turn you away.

I went to Les Mis last year and took my (at the time) 1 week old baby with me. We had in-house seats and we did not have to purchase a ticket. I wonder why? I fully expected to have to pay too.
