Workout World (WOW!)

I'm considering joining Workout World (WOW!). I visited the club this morning for a workout and thought it was very clean and had top notch equipment. The childcare room was great too. Before I join, just wondering if anyone has positive/negative experiences to share? Thanks!

 

I am boycotting this place due to their blatant unabashed use of road spam. I've talked to one of the owners and they refuse to stop the practice, eventhough admitting that it is illegal.

 

I respect your opinion on the road spam, but I am really looking for feedback on the quality of the gym's fitness program. Thank you.

 

I decided not to join there and joined Gold's instead. The main reason for me was the childcare room. It is TINY at WOW and way bigger at Gold's. I knew that my little ones would go nuts in that tiny little room. But if you think your child(ren) would be perfectly content in there, go for it! (There were other reasons I chose Gold's too, but that's not what you asked so I'll shut up now as I have no info on the actual fitness programs at WOW.)

 

There is a new gym opening up in a month or so behind the new giant in the office buildings on the greenway called fitness first.

Not as big as Golds but much bigger then wow and they have fairly good prices at the moment.

Boy - we're sure getting a lot of workout facilities around here......

 

My wife checked out WOW, but never joined. Besides the annoying road spam, we had no need for child care on premises. So we joined Anytime Fitness near the Safeway--love it because I can walk 1/2 mile to the center, then have a good workout without a crowd, then walk back home. Really enjoy it, even though it is no frills. Good luck!

 

OP here. I also checked out Fitness First, which is located by the Panera Bread Co. They claim they are opening the first week of June yet, but the foundation isn't even poured yet. I'm nervous that there will be delays, but the price is good- about the same as WOW.

Any other comments on WOW (non-road spam related, please.)?

 

They are going into the second floor of the already built office building. I think they are taking half the floor which is fairly large.

We are members of WOW and are very happy with it.
When I asked them to stop the road spam, they apologized and immediately stopped.
Maybe the problem was in AFGM's delivery??????

 

Well Cliff, glad to hear they have told you they've stopped. I was sypathic to their marketing plight, but did not condone their continued practice of road spam. I was left with the impression they were still going to employ road spam as a marketing tool. (Just not in Ashburn Farm. thankfully)

If they have stopped, as you say, why do I see fresh signs out? WOW, maybe they are trying to appease someone. It has to be either you or me.

 

BUMP...looking for feedback on your experiences (positive or negative) with Workout World (WOW). Has anyone done a trial or joined this gym and if so, what do you think?

Yes, we are members and happy there. They have a lot of different types of classes and have recently replaced all the equipment.
