Then tax the hell out of those non profits that will teach them the real lesson won't it. Besides we need the taxes we are going to lose because businesses may not want to move here or even leave here expect hospitals. Do hospitals know something we don't that there are going to be a huge increase for the need for medical care around here. Something in the dirt or water we don't know about. :devil2:

I agree tax INOVA you should work on that as hard as you do this. that would be a nice windfall on top of it. and tax orbital why your at it too. :)

And now you know why you get attacked. What a maroon!:blahblah:

Actually, an inpatient psych facility makes GREAT sense here. They are profitable. They run "clean" in comparison to other areas of health care. They are designed to be highly secure and VERY low key.

Again...here's a situation where you know little about, Lee. Since I've made a very good living in health care. I was responsible for an entire set of facilities that saw 500,000 outpatient visits a year.

You might actually learn something if you would stop to listen.

Did you really need to post that 3 times? Reading your posts once is painful enough.

Lee - i stand corrected you did render an apology to Cliff on 01/03/08

If you want to share our private emails with the general public

    - IMO that speaks volumes to your own character.

I really have nothing to hide in our conversations especially when I was responding to your request for insight...as I said before I would call a truce, but you didn't adhere to our agreement.

All said and done - this whole thread has brought out the true ugliness in people (including myself), facts, lies/half truths, fractured some friendships, caused countless headaches for the admins and has given our "on-line" community a pretty bad rep. Before you start attacking I have had my fair share of "moments" - many of us are guilty of poor, hurtful and disgusting behavior.

Most of us are adults and this thread has degressed to middle school tactics or ganging up on people (who may state facts and/or opinions) is just plan sad.

Lesson 2: Non-profit does not mean NOT FOR PROFIT! Look it up in the tax code.

Lee - thank you for taking the high road, in kind if I have offended you I sincerely extend my deepest apology.

As I have told you - I know that you are a good person, have an interesting view point/opinion and have a very passionate view point on many issues. Although we may not agree all the time I know that we can agree to disagree.

as for the psych ward - I think they already have a room ready for me too.

Seriously I have to get back to my clams oscar before I break the sauce and have to start over again before my foodie friends arrive!

Yes actually...they do know something you don't know. There is a statistical formula that's used to determine how many beds a given population needs and of what type. They also know that hospitals in afluent areas are profitable when ones in blighted areas don't. That's why you usually only see academic medical centers, charity hospitals or municipal facilities in the blighted, less afluent areas. Same thing applies to Universities, food stores, high end utilities(think FIOS)...you name it.

Non-profit hospitals, unless they're owned by the government, still add plenty to the tax coffers.

thepea2001, I think you are so right, and you deserve major kudos for being the one to say it. Unfortunately, I am sure this issue will continue to divide the community for countless years to come, as I think that the zealotry on both sides is pretty vile.

Cliff, I am only responding because of your invitation to correct some of your facts...Again...

You are correct that I was in attendance at this meeting I have never hidden that fact.(while I know you and others won't believe this) I was there as a resident, just like I had attended some of these meetings in the past... as a resident.

I and others did not camp out...I believe the meeting started at 2:00 and I arrived at that time. The meeting started late.

No one was asked to leave, just the opposite happened as Van asked those not sitting at the table if we would like to join them at the table. I, and others, declined that invitation as we had nothing to contribute to the discussion at hand.

It is not a private meeting, it is open to the public. You can VERIFY that with the county.

Cliff, it really is incredible how you infer that all of the information that is fed to you by HCA is always correct and everyone else and their opinions are wrong.

I would ask HCA that the next time they feed you information that they at least try to make it accurate.

Does it really matter at this point?

If the board approves, HCA gets to build and Inova probably goes to court.

If denied, HCA goes to court.

Regardless of who wins, Lee will probably spout something about architecture, flex, neighborly, double mint gum for the few!!! and say he knew the outcome all along because he heard it at a dinner party where they were serving fried chi.... oh never mind!. :D
