Maybe the word "accountability" isn't in Gryphon's vocabulary ;)

LOL! I guess Gryph only wants OTHERS to be accountable.

Geaxtigers, I was trying to highlight flynnibus's error! He is the one who called it HIPPA, so I tried to spell out what he might be referring to! I guess I could have been clearer with what I was going for, but, my gosh, do you people not get even basic humor?!?

Also, I am not at all surprised to see flynnibus's fan club still standing up for him even after he wrote pages of posts questioning the veracity of a parent trying to get medical care for his child.

Thank God AFGM has been banned from this discussion - things have really taken a turn for the better since that happened. (sarcasm alert)

I was not at the hearing, but several of the kids you are referring to live near us. Why do you think it is "truly disgu(sting)" for them to share their views? Personally, I am happy when anyone, regardless of age, gets involved in the civic process.

Dude, you must not have kids. If so, I congratulate their agreeing with you 100 percent of the time and doing exactly and only what you tell them to do. We are blessed with AMAZING kids in my family, but we sometimes have different opinions. Also, I sure as heck don't remember agreeing with everything my parents thought (true to this day!).

You are making a pretty big assumption. Why do you assume that these kids were used? What if they feel deeply about the issue and their parents are only being supportive.

My biggest concern with pro-hospital and anti-hospital people in this forum is how they appear more concerned about demonizing each other than discussing the real issue. The quotes above are just examples. Questioning a neighbor's parent-child relationship is a serious matter and uncalled for.

:bs::bs: You were busted doing exactly what you criticized another for and even worse you did it within your criticism and now you are trying to spin your way out of it. Pathetic.

I do have a child and he is AMAZING!

And yes, It IS USING a child. Some of those kids are not even teenagers and the only "opinion" they would form would be what mommy and daddy told them it should be. And what parent in this fight would let their child speak if that child's opinion is on the opposite side of there views?

And before you answer that question, I am sure YOU would because you are such a dynamic, understanding, caring parent who is only interested in letting their child experience life even at a tender, young age! :sickhurl:

I totally agree that it is unlikely that a child would say anything diverging from their parents views. I also might agree that in some ways it is meaningless. But I think calling it disgusting is way too far. Involving children in civics and possibly boosting their public speaking confidence is probably good.

You call it what you want.

As for civics lessons and public speaking, I think a less divisive topic and one a child might ACTUALLY care about would be better for them.

Of course, I would. We have always encouraged our children to think for themselves, and my parents taught be the same way. Heck, we have a child who has chosen a different religion from us. So, if that child had an opinion on the hospital, I would welcome her to share it.

To get back to my originial point, your post stepped far over the line. You questioned the personal relationship between the parent and child of your neighbors. That is just the latest in a series of egregious examples of how the hospital issue is bringing out the ugly side of the anti-hospital and pro-hospital crowds.

There are many legitimate reasons to oppose the hospital being built in Broadlands. There is no right answer. Both sides have legitimate points.

While I applaud the great marketing done by INOVA at last week's meeting with the yellow shirts (if you think squashing competition is appropriate by another hospital), I think using the phrase, "Danger! I live in the HCA Fallout Zone" is way over the top and contributes to the acrimony. It simply plays on fear rather than simply stating, "We oppose BRMC."

It would be akin to HCA people wearing black T-Shirts that said, "Danger! How many Broadlands residents will die if we don't have a hospital here?" or something similar. It's shamelessly over the top.

Opinion or not, it is sad for you to question your neighbors' parenting just because they have a different point of view of the construction (or non-construction) of a building. That's incredibly low.

Are you sure those t-shirts were INOVA's? I thought the neighbors got them made......maybe I'm wrong.

Oops, my bad, my perhaps wrong assumption based on what I've read/been told. So I do apologize if these t-shirts were not influenced by/created by INOVA.

No matter who made them, I think the message is over the top.

Blah blah blah. Go whine to someone else.

I tire of your holier-than-thou sermonettes.
