I knew that was coming...two of my boys ordered chicken tenders instead of a taco.

Not 5 star??? It wasn't 1 star. Hence the post to warn folks. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. I even wrote on my receipt that I'd rather eat at Taco Bell.

May I suggest heading down to Picante's in Chantilly if you want more traditional Mexican food.

It is tucked in the old Sully shopping center of Rt. 50, there is a 7-11 and a Paintball store in the shopping center.

Best Fajitas in this area! Plus they do a more traditional melted cheese 'dip' that you can get with meat (I haven't seen any place offer this other than when I was in Mexico for vacation).

Also, their Margaritas are really good.

All I can say is anita's always has a lot of cars in the parking lot so there must be a significant amount of people around that disagree with the ones that don't like anitas. Personally, the Rio Grande is my favorite mexican style restaurant close to us. I have gone to this anitas and found the service good and the food acceptable for the price and it was packed both times with a short wait both times.

Got carryout from Anita's last night & it tasted just like any other time (LOVE those breakfast burritos) and it only took them about 10 minutes to take our order & get it packed up. Worked for me!

I was just going to say, as a DINK in the ashburn area, I use carryout a lot to avoid the family dining experience and this new Anita's has been pretty reliable. I am even pleased that the carryout staff speak fluent english, which is a big change from the ones in Herndon and Chantilly.

And it is a lot closer than Herndon :)

We just went on Thursday evening and actually ate in the restaurant. The food was VERY good & visually appealling (as compared to other Anita's restaurants). It was fresh from the oven & just the way we asked for it.

The service towards the end was a bit slow - the waitress was more interested in the young guys that were coming into start their shift:)

Good thing for you, sharse, that he devoured your food! I watched him wolf it down in the basement...he wouldn't even share with the kids!

    My two cents:

We ate at Anita's last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I remember that I ate at one in Vienna several years ago and wasn't terribly impressed. But we decided to give it a try. The best thing about it was the prices - they are very reasonably priced, with an enchilada plate being around $8. The food was good -I think the difference between their style and tex-mex (which is what I'm used to, being from Texas) is the type of sauce they use but I'm no expert. I don't know what the difference is in terms of ingredients, but it tasted different.

The enchiladas were good and the tamales were fine, too. We liked the chips and salsa.

The service was a little slow but not any more than many places. The server was polite and helpful.

We'll probably return another time and I'm likely to try the quesadillas, but for our first visit there I figured I would try their specialty rather than something generic (and tex-mexy) like quesadillas. I hear their breakfast burritos are very good so I'll have to try one sometime.

Anyway, not the best place I've ever eaten, but good enough, particularly when you consider the low prices.

We ate there last night too. My husband, two sons and my in-laws. We ate for less than $90 with tip. Where else can 6 adults eat that inexpensively, including two margaritas? I do not go there looking for gourmet. I like their tamales and enchiladas a lot. This location is much nicer inside than Chantilly, Herndon, and I assume Vienna, mainly because of age. Service is slow every time we are there, but the food comes out very fast, so really doesn't take any more time to eat there than anywhere else. It wasn't packed last night, but got busier while we were there. We went fairly early, around 5:15. The carryout has steady business also.

BTW, I'm from Texas also and have eaten mexican food there and in San Diego. Everyone does parts of it a little differently, but honestly, most mexican food tastes pretty similar.

Okaaaaaaaay, so I gave it another shot and it wasn't bad this time. Service was great and food was.....better then average. I'd go back, but still my props have to go to Los Toltecos in Sterling/Countryside area.
