Consolidated Theaters also has a Secret Shopper Club:

    How does the program work?
Each participant is asked to select a favorite theatre for the year. Once per quarter (4 times per year), a packet containing a Secret Shopper Access Code, Gift Certificates and movie passes are sent out from our Home Office in Charlotte. You will have 2-3 weeks to visit your selected theatre and complete the evaluation form online. You will be asked specifically to attend a movie and visit our concession stand. Each quarter you will receive:

    (1) One $10 Gift Certificate- You will use this to purchase concession items
    ($40 value annually)

    (2) Two Special Guest Passes (these will get you and a friend in to see a movie)
    ($60 value annually)

    (3) Secret Shopper Access Code

The fee is $50, and they're now taking applications for the Brambleton theater. Here's the link: http://66.129.72.75/ (or you can access it through their main page, http://www.consolidatedmovies.com/default.asp.

those ticket prices are outrageous especially for a matinee. how can anyone afford babysitting and a movie, it would cost 60 bucks for 2 people to see a movie you can rent for 5. are there any days with specials? does this theatre have one of those programs where you can bring small children and the lights are up and sound turned down a little more?

I know they charge less than Regal. Name one first run theatre that doesn't charge around the same amount for their movies?

ITA that movie ticket prices are shockingly high, but that's nothing new. When were they reasonably priced?

Ticket prices are set more or less by the studios in general and not so much the theater especially the expected big hits the studios get most of the ticket price if not all of it.

The is some kind of formula (rules that govern this) The theater really makes the money off of the concessions.

So complain to the studios!! They drive the ticket prices.

Sad part is a teenage date at the movies can be $40 or more. Two tickets about $20 two drinks and two popcorns another $20. Add a simple meal at McDonalds after or before the movie for two $10 to $15.

So a date night at the movies for teens is very expensive.

Like smheese says for two adults with baby sitting going to the movies is expensive.

I love the Fox theater and the Brambleton town center as you all know especially when it is finished.

Dalyn and I saw Ocean's 13 there last Sunday afternoon and loved the whole experience. So don't take this wrong because it is fun to go to the theater once in awhile.:) At the same token my in Home movie theater has just as good a picture and because we can sit close to the screen the picture looks as big as the theaters and my sound is every bit as good and my seating is 100 times better. So going to the movies these days has to be more then just the movie it has to be the whole experience. Just like we don't go out and eat much because Dalyn is a gourmet cook and so are many of our friends so a dinner party with friends is so much more enjoyable especially when they all join in and cook and then spend the evening sitting at the dining table all telling our stories. :D Noticed I did say they all cook because you don't want to eat what I can't cook which is just about everything, but I do wash and clean up very very well. ha ha ha I love dinner parties with just a few friends with great food and stories. I love stories:)

Personally it was a good movie maybe not as good as the first two, probably because you already know the story somewhat. I could of waited for it to come out on DVD, but we wanted to see it in the beautiful Fox theater. :)

I am taking my boys and going with some buddies to see the new Die Hard tomorrow afternoon, I think a big action movie might play well on the big screen. I will let you all know. That will pretty much blow the movie budget for this month and next:D

Brassy most of our friends and our dinner party friends are not from around here ha ha ha :)

My big chill (after the movie:)) long weekend I have in the fall every year is a weekend I live for. I have a few friends 10 or 12 hang out for 3 or 4 days and you never know what is going to happen except we always find time to watch the Big Chill movie. One year we ended up touring the capital inside at 2am in the morning all by accident ha ha ha:) it was a tour by a history buff I will never forget and totally unexpected. I have pictures to prove it.:) Another year on the last day of the Big chill weekend I had my beautiful friend from the music business out in LA left and she wanted to go over to see my buddy and neighbor Wilson Pickett Well it was a rainy day and Wilson did not look so good when he came to the door, but when he saw my beautiful blonde friend boy did he perk up and invited us in and they sang and played the piano all afternoon. Drank a lot of vodka and we were running out so I was going to get someone to bring us more. Well Wilson said "hey we are not out of vodka there is plenty in the pantry" I go to the kitchen pantry and look inside and all I could see were cereal boxes. ha ha I say "Wilson all you got in the pantry is cereal" Hey says check inside the cereal boxes, so I did. And WOW there must of been hundreds of airplane sized vodka bottles in all those cereal boxes ha ha ha ha ha

Anyway it was another magical day. :) What a shame he died fairly young. SO sad and he did have a song in the Big Chill movie:)

we saw Ratatouille last night here and it was fantastic. The movie was SO good, the popcorn was fresh and delicious, and the theater is beautiful. we were in seats right under an a/c vent so we were kind of chilly, but no complaints.

looks like regal is about to lose alot of business- that WAS our favortie theater around here but to travel just 6 minutes over 17? Fox chase it is!

I took my daughter to see Ratatouille today - what a nice experience!! The movie was great and the theater is beautiful!! Easy to park, got my tickets using the kiosk, no line at the concession (I'm sure this won't last once word gets out about this place, though). I love having a theater so close - what a great addition to our neck of the woods!!

Well this one is at the end of a park with water fountains.

Covered parking which is close and they have several entrances and exits on the side and back so as not to interfere with the main entrance. not like the Reston Town center with one. The lobby is done tastefully in understated elegance. They will also monitor the teenagers from just hanging out and causing trouble. The Food so far has been fresh.
These two theaters are like night and day. The Brambleton town center is very well thought out and planned unlike the fake town centers sprouting up everywhere which are nothing more then a strip center with oceans of open parking in the back instead of the front which makes the walk even longer from the car a real pain in bad weather.:D

who wants Loudoun to grow beautifully and a beautifully finished and landscaped main road system which is a million steps up from smart growth.

We went on July 4 and were surprised that there's no way to get from the multistory parking directly into the theatre. Normally, not a problem, but this was about the time the severe storms were passing through, and it would have been nice to have a direct walkway into the theatre.

Certainly, I understand the idea to walk folks past the retail areas on their way to the stores....but the walk from the parking garage was a bit circuitous...

    Not that I'm lazy....

At our current rental in Sterling (we'll be permanent in SW in two weeks) we are closer to the Countryside Regal than the Fox Cinema in Brambleton... and we prefer the Fox Cinema. Until this opened we were going to Reston Town Center to see movies... disliked the Regal that much. The Fox Cinemas will be THE place for movies for us, after seeing Ratatouille and Transformers there, we're sold.
Let's just hope they can keep up the good work.

Edit: except for any movies in IMAX. If only Udvar-Hazy let us have popcorn and drinks in the theater....

We visited FOX on Saturday to see Harry Potter. Comfortable stadium seats, large screen, surround sound - everthing configured right, except it was about 20 degrees. I had to break the icicles off my nose. Next time we'll sit on the lower tier of seats, farther from the air vents.
Another missive as mentioned by another post: there's no direct access to the theater from the garage so you have to walk outside. Not a problem in nice weather - but it will be when it's raining or cold.
