There is a stop sign at this intersection. I cross this intersection every day and have never had any issues or concerns. At times I have probably had to wait almost a whole minute (I nkow, this is totally unacceptable to some!). People just need to BE PATIENT!

Yes your right, but that is a really wide intersection, with lots of traffic, and more traffic to come. I should have said

Hope the light or 4-way stop sign comes soon....

    That should clearifiy things.

People don't obey the speed limits here as it is. A light or a stop isn't going to change that. If you're going 35 there's no possible way for you to NOT be able to stop in time if someone run's the stop sign.

A 4-way stop sign or light will definitely make that intersection safer. Are you saying that just because people run stop signs and red lights, that we shouldn't bother doing anything to fix that intersection? That's just plain dumb. There will always be people who run stop signs and/or red lights, but that doesn't prevent signs/lights from being put up at major intersections.

And I agree with you T8erman that CURRENTLY it is not difficult to get through that intersection as long as you are patient. However, with more and more construction occuring south of Waxpool, this intersection will continue to get busier and busier. Eventually, I would guess, even you would get impatient having to wait as a massive line of cars tries to cross Waxpool Road during rush hour.

mearen I don't understand your point. Yes people speed, all the time. But are you referring to speeders on Waxpool? The fact is if you pull out from Claiborne and cross Waxpool and get hit by a car on Waxpool, who has right of way, I think you are at fault, speeding or not. You just have to be patient when crossing, I have found it particularly challenging at dusk.

We have a similar problem when coming out of the Safeway and trying to go straight onto DeMott. We have to cross Broadlands Blvd, 4 lanes, plus left turn lane. And the road curves, so you dont have very good visisbility to the right or the left.

You just have to be patient and very cautious when crossing the street. You know that people speed on those streets, so you need to take that into consideration when crossing.

No kidding. I spent 2 1/2 years in London. I loved the "roundabouts" they had there...

That intersection is bad. How about those Suburban Assault Vehicles who thought that snow allowed them to use the median as a shortcut?

There's a stop sign there now and an accident happened. More stop signs are not going to make people better drivers it's going to make more people run stop signs.

Based on this reasoning, why don't we just eliminate all traffic signals and stop signs everywhere, then? Let anarchy reign.

There is a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Waxpool Road and Ashburn Village Blvd, and I have never seen an accident there. Seems to me a 4-way or traffic signal would work better than what we have now...

I agree with Pats Fan. I have seen a number of accidents at the 4 way stop at Waxpool/Asburn BEFORE the 4 way was installed. By the way how is the new "Traffic Pattern" going to work at this intersection? (Waxpool/Ashburn)

What we need is a light and probably sometime in the very near future. But for now we need to just be diligent in crossing this intersection. And yes, it would not hurt that some people SLOW DOWN on Waxpool!
I love roundabouts! An English friend said I was meant to drive them when we were there for vacation!

ARGH!!!! You bring back a bad memory. Had a malfunction in my 35mm camera and I "thought" I was taking pics from a 36 exposure roll. To my chagrin, when it was time to replace the roll - yup, you guessed it - there was NO film! Many a potential nice shot lost that day.

HMMM, good reason to go back and use my digital camera. :)

We traced the 'Catastrophic Error" issue to the interaction between some email routines and a possible Microsoft security patch applied to our server. Since our site is hosted at an ISP, it's difficult for us to quickly figure out what exactly is going on.

In the meantime, we have disabled Forum/Thread subscriptions, the source of the email generation in the first place. This has alleviated the error. Once we correct the issue, we will re-enable Subcriptions..

    Thanks!

    The Admins.
