oh it was AWESOME! came off of LCP sitting 2nd at the 4 way stop on Shellhorn to turn left- Chipotle, Fosters, etc. to my left, I forget the street name.

from the interection to the right- in spite of another car stopped waiting its turn to go in the lane beside him, a green truck goes FLYING thru the four way stop without a care in the WORLD, until the cop behind me crawled up his butt, pulled him over and took care of BINIZ! i hope he hung up his cell phone b4 she go to the window...

what a maroon. the guy in front of ME had just started to turn left and would have been CREAMED by this guy had she moved a little faster.

SO glad there is a larger prescence of LoCO police lately- I hope that guy got a million tickets for speeding, reckless driving, blowing the stop sign and being a complete idgit- do they issue idgit tickets... lol

    made my DAY.

Seems every other day there are sheriffs patrolling shellhorn especially during rush hour and it seems not to help much. They have also been patrolling waxpool stretch a lot more lately also. They just keep pulling people over and over and there seems no end to the law breakers on those two roads.

as long as they stop one death, one accident, i give them kudos. obviously they can't CHANGE lousy drivers but they can deter some them with more presence!

Cool. I think I noticed tonight that on Ashburn Village Blvd. coming from Broadlands and the Greenway the intersection now allows TWO lanes to go straight across Shellhorn? Did I see that right?

Yes you did and the meter is in but no meter at the greenway lights as of yet. I bet the shellhorn lights go blinking in a few days. then on:)

One thing about the cops...I don't mind them pulling over speeders however 2 of my neighbors were busted for 4 and 6 over the speed limit on Shellhorn. Talk about spliting hairs here especially as we watch these same cops doing 60+ on LCP daily.

^ My wife was caught on Shellhorn for like 46mph.

The problem with that road is its 35mph and IMO there is no reason for that. We have roads going through areas of homes that are 45mph (not talking about pure residential streets like Village). But Claiborn is 45mph, yet there are turns off it that lead directly to a residential unit, there are bike paths on it and there are even street lights. Yet Shellhorn, a road that has zero homes on it, and ultimately will have I believe another mall, is 35mph. Its crazy.

But, welcome to NoVA where the speed limits on roads make zero sense and often times change multiple times on the same roadway.

A4guy - I totally agree with you, 35 on Shellhorn is way too low, but I've seen the cops there too much so I do not speed at all....I stay right at 36 or 37......

yeah, "baby busts" are irritatinfg especially when we have SO many drivers running red lights, driving recklessly, speeding thru neighborhoods and driving in a dangerous manner...

but rules is rules as they say...

This just happened to me a few days ago - I was caught doing 50 - "I thought" the speed limit was 45MPH.
    ...It's my own dang fault.
It was the first time in months I didnt have the baby or hubby in our sporty car and I was rocking out with the wind blowing in my hair. So it was a rather expensive "joy ride"...

People are so funny when they break the law :pofl: They always think it should change to their standards. :pofl: There are reasons why speeds limits are what they are like on Waxpool Ashburn Village Dr Shellhorn etc. Shellhorn is going to be full of residential some day and there will be many predestrians walking along it and crossing so the speed limits take that future into account and not let people get used to the higher limit only to be lowered later. Loudoun is also known to have one of the highest ratio of kids to parents in the country so another reason not to speed ;)

Yep and speed on Ashburn Village dr and they have even a better surprise like an extra high fine. THere are many roads like that in Loudoun with additional very high fines. ;)

before we moved to Blands we had a home near the Sports Pavillion - thankfully we never got hit with the $200 additional fine. I havent had a speeding ticket since 1992 - so my ticket off Shellhorn was completely my fault - I didnt pay attention to the posted limit but now I am.

It's all about making money for the county. And LCP...how many times does the speed limit change? Again my problem is double standards and spliting hairs to make that quota...and YES there is a quota!

If that's the case, all they need to do is show up in traffic court and most times, when the excess speed is that low, the judge will drop it...
