My husband has had very bad experiences with the dry cleaners next to Safeway. They haven't taken responsibility for shirts with burn marks. Has anyone else had a bad experience with them? It's out of character for him to complain, so they must be pretty bad! ;)

we've had nothing but great service from them- my husband uses them all the time. i took a very nice, red and white Negro League baseball jersey to them to be cleaned and it came back as good as new- the pinkish tinge removed from the white sleeves.

i had tried taking it another very close by local dry cleaner (just to give a different business a chance) and they said they didn't know how to clean it without the color bleeding- hello??? isn't THAT what you are SUPPOSED to do- CLEAN DIFFICULT CLOTHES?!?

I have been using the cleaners next to Safeway for about six months, with little redos so no complaints. The redo or two that I had with a men's dress shirt was redone without question. The only thing I notice is that sometimes the worker forgets to take off the 20% for 4 or more dry cleaning items. They do take off the 20% once you bring it to their attention. The 20% off the bill is easy to spot now that they have an itemized receipt.

Previously, I had used the cleaner within Safeway and lost several buttons on men's shirts, which the cleaner needed to and did repair. After one too many button repairs, I switched to the cleaners next door.

I had a similar HORRIBLE experience - I found them to be completely dishonest. I have never had such a bad experience before, and logged a complaint with the BBB.

I've been using them for years and been very satisified. My only complaint is that I'd like them to be open later than 7PM.

By the way - they are rated UNSATISFACTORY by the Better Business Bureau - they have had multiple complaints, including advertising, billing, and repair disputes - none of which they have even bothered to respond to the BBB for.

Hmmm, how about this scenerio? Maybe the burn marks were there when you dropped it off? I know its far-fetched, but did you ever consider that??
Also, no one knows your husband nor can vouch for his character, so maybe he just a persistent complainer like most suburbanites in the area?

    ems,

Your BBB comment sure doesn't sound like the place I've experienced. Can you point us to the BBB info?

It's prob. because EMS is the only 1 person out of 1000 that had a bad experience there, now he has to vent this anger by trying to bash them online. I'm guessing it was a sock or something that went missing.

We've been using them since they first opened and have had no problems. Every so often a minor issue occurs such as a missing button, and they've fixed it free of charge. The people who work there are very friendly, too.

There is a new dry cleaners at the Southern Walk shopping center called Crystal Brite Cleaners. I dropped some stuff off this afternoon. Men's shirts are $1 and everything else is 50% off right now. So my grand total for 6 shirts and 6 pants was $20.
I will let you know how it goes- they were very friendly, have brand new machines, and could probably really use the business right now since they just opened.

bladerunner, why the snarky remark? If my husband got his shirts done there regularly, it stands to reason the marks wouldn't have come from anywhere else. God knows I'm not ironing them! ;) We are not chronic complainers by any means.

wow! Bladerunner - how nasty! I'm sorry my experience was not the same as yours, and no, it wasn't a lost sock, it was a very large issue. this is why I don't respond on these threads - I was trying to be helpful by sharing my experience. I said nothing nasty other than I had a horrible experience, and they are rated unsatisfactory, which is true. I did not slam anyone personally. I've never responded before negatively about any company or experience, and it is the only complaint I have ever filed with BBB in my (sadly long) life.

Obviously I'm not the only one who had a bad experience -I didn't start the thread! My issue was back in 2005, and there have been 2 complaints to the BBB since then, one this year. Most people don't take the time or effort to issue formal complaints for a lost sock.

I won't respond again, as I am shocked by the nastiness, especially under these circumstances. Unless Bladerunner IS actually the cleaners, or related to them, I truly don't understand why my experience brought out such hatred and venom.

I apologize if you felt as though my remarks were harsh, it just seems as though this area is full of "wanna-be" yuppees who are rude in general. They feel as though this area is somehow "affluent" and even badged themselves "Cashburn". Being raised on the otherside of the river in Potomac MD, this place is by no means "affluent" and people should act a bit more humble to conform with the area. Sorry about my rant, but I had to get this off my chest.

Ummmm, I think Bladerunner may have some other issues totally unrelated to my query. That's quite a leap of logic!
