About 6 months ago I took a suit in to be cleaned. When I returned 2 weeks later they claimed they didn't have it. Of course, I didn't have the claim ticket, but it should have been in their computer. I kept going back to check in and on the 4th attempt they found it. I was very upset because it was my favorite suit.

I have to say, that article about the drycleaners being sued is completely ridiculous to me. It's the whole "sense of entitlement" thing taken to an extreme.

That being said, if they messed up your pants, they should be honest. I don't condone dishonest business practice. I mean, come on, how else are burn marks going to show up on a work shirt?

I just don't think suing for millions of dollars is really necessary.

What I find strange is that the sign on all of them says "Drycleaners". Then you enter and there's no price list to be found. So I ask for the prices and although they're owned by the same owner the prices differ from store to store. What's up with that?

Or the time I took a queen size comforter in for drycleaning and they quoted $30 to clean it. So I asked what the cost is for regular laundry and the said $30. Okay, so what method did I use? I bought a new washing machine with a super large tub and the comforter comes out clean and beautiful.

Years ago, a friend had several suits over a period of time come back from the cleaners with puncture marks on the jacket sleeve near the shoulder. They claimed the jacket was already damaged when it was brought to the cleaners. Anyway, they suggested taking it to this testing lab whose entire membership consists of the drycleaning membership. While it was never resolved, another cleaner suggested it was caused by a mechanism being used to hang the jacket while it was being cleaned.

The three suits cost over 1K.

I have other horror stories - some of my own, but I'll spare the audience.

I'm a bit late on reading this thread and responding to it, but the dry cleaners next to Giant (near the Ashburn Home Depot) by far the best I've experienced in the area. They do a great job, they are customer friendly, and act like they truly appreciate my business. They do excellent tailoring work as well.

we use Crystal Brite. Everything is done nicely. even taken comfortors and blankets up. they come back in nice see-through light plastic packs with a handle. good way to store out of season stuff. Recently I took them my daughters quilt that was made for her when she was two, by my MIL. this was to clean and preserve it for her kid when the time comes. Never have a complaint for them, plus I like the fact that they do the work onsite, rather than sending it away.
