Villager's links bring up a good question; does the cold water smell, or is it only the hot water?

Folks that do laundry and end up with 'smelly towels'; do you wash in cold water only or a mix?

The first link in Villager's post indicates the water heater as a possible source, which kinda makes sense to me. Maybe folks having the water issue have something wrong with their water heaters?

Not applicable here. You can take a brand new perfectly washed towel, put cold tap water on it, and leave it, a couple hours later the smell is unlike anything you could imagine water smelling like. It's completely disgusting.

Our smell comes regardless of water temp.

    My questions are

    1. Do you all share the same underground plumbing system because you live near each other and maybe there is some kind of leak near you, or
    2. Do you all have the same model home which may have a faulty plumbing design common to all of you that is causing a problem.
I'm no expert but it sounds like a localized problem. I've watched enough episodes of Holmes on Homes to wonder if the problem lies in the plumbing and not in the water itself.

Not sure if this is a localized thing. I'm on Marsh Creek. I plan on calling again today to get a sample taken. This problem is gross and I can't take the smell anymore in clean fresh towels. There has been no improvement in the two weeks since this started. The guy told me to call back for more help if there was no improvement in a couple of days.

Anyone else with the towel problem see improvement?

Again, like last time, the squeakier the wheel, the quicker the action.... so if you still have a problem, please call.

Loudoun Water actually called me last week to see if there were improvements and I said no. Haven't had follow-up to that conversation, but they know that where I live (on Highview Trail) there is no improvement.

My problem lies in the MBR shower, sinks, sinks upstairs, and washer (front-loader). I would agree that there's more bacteria build-up in the sinks upstairs due to brushing teeth, but again, never had a problem like this before when I lived in another part of Ashburn. When LW came out to flush the hydrant on our cul-de-sac, I did smell the same smell coming from the hydrant water that also comes from our sinks. It was rank.
