    Good Morning,
    Just wanted to send out the info that Fuddruckers (across from Bloom, next to Bertucci's and IHOP) is open. My family went last night and it was incredibly busy - we arrived about 6:15. They have some kinks to work out, but overall, the food was good and everyone was very helpful - management was running about trying to get orders fixed (including ours), etc.

    I'd give it a couple of weeks to shake out the kinks, but overall, I'm excited to have this additional choice nearby.

    Yep I drove over there with my family and saw the crowd about the same time, and said to the family if you all want to eat here I will drop you all off and pick you all up in 24 hours ;) ha ha ha ha

    Yep it looked real crowded so we will go another time.

    Well it seems some restaurants are crowed around here like Ihop and others just go empty. Perhaps it is the kid thing with families wanting family type restaurants. Hopefully the urban centers some day will round out this demographic so all types of restaurants can make it and a buch of urban style housing is built.

    Listening BOS you will not get business's here if you don't build the urban housing with it.

    We ate at Fuddruckers last night but got it to go. The place looks nice and employees were really hustling. Seemed to be a bit behind on getting the shakes ready but I'm sure they'll get it all streamlined soon.

    The food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful.

    Re: Fuddruckers/Food Lion (aka Bloom)

    Yes, Food Lion made the "change over" to Bloom a little for a year ago.

    Although in certain markets--i.e. Hispanic or more ethnically diverse areas--their demographic studies showed that a different type of grocery store would be better suited for a particular region. I have never shopped the Food Lion stores but some "swear" by them. Kinda same genre like Winn Dixie in the South. Yes, grocery stores have genres or different levels--believe it or not--to grab the Consumer's dollars.

    Hence, the Bottom Dollar grocery stores were "born" to better serve the more diverse populations. For instance--in Sterling Park area--there is a Bottom Dollar store where the "old" Food Lion once was located. Not just in VA--but all of the Food Lion stores changes were made accordingly nationwide. Bottom Dollar stores are like the Big Lots of the grocery store arena. Cheaper prices and cheaper products--some carry more ethnic foods than a mainstream grocery store. Same dry goods, etc.

    I know more than you want to know from a "Foodie" right?:blahblah::happygrin:

    I saw a show the other day about Fuddrucker's 30-pound hamburger. Takes two hours to cook and has to be ordered 48 hours in advance. Now that's a big burger!

    Stopped by tonight around 5:45. No wait at all - not too crowded when we got there. But by the time we left, packed!

    Food was great. Service was excellent, all the employees were going out of their way to be helpful. Love the atmosphere. I think I found my new favorite Ashburn casual restaurant. Much better than the new Bertucci's.

    as a faithful fosters follower i went to fuddruckers in protest since my son and husband were dying to check it out. i ewven got a HOT DOG in order not to cheat on fosters! :) and here's the deal- hubby's 1/2 lb. burger was overcooked but it was still juicy and tasty, on a fresh bun. wedge fries- lightly seasoned, not greasy, yummy. large portion of frings was kinda small. the hot dog was cold- so cold it didn't even melt the cheese on the bun, but it was still yummy, since i love hot dogs, cold, hot boiled and grilled!

    the best thing on the table- those fantastic shakes. creamy blended, not just a cup of ice cream. the bad news is that i ate my entire caloric allotment for a week there, but the good news is that i feel so loaded down and ill right now that i will eat salads and grilled chicken for the next WEEK. ok the next 24 hours... baby steps, baby steps... lol

    for the record, fosters fries and burgers blow Fudds away, but fudd has an excellent neighborhood atmosphere, super shakes, and will be very popular with teens and families.

    My problem with fosters has always been consistency. One time we will go and the food will be amazing then the next time the fries will be under cooked and the burgers cooked incorrectly. Plus don't get me started on their ordering system. If I walk in and see 4-5 people in front of me I walk out cause I know it will be 20 minutes till I get to the register.

    Unfortunatly I see red robin just destroying fosters. I don't think they will be around much longer.

    it amazes me how these strip malls allow businesses to be built to canniblaize each other- subway and Puccios in one. Red Robin and Fosters in another- why would they DO that? of course two similar businesses in ONE location- SMALL proximity at that- cannot thrive. too bad. i have been to forster no less than 10 times- just ask my pants- they'll tell ya! and i have NEVER had a bad experience. one over cooked burger was quickly remedied and apologies from management came in the form of a free burger on my next visit.

    i hope they make it- maybe red robin can cater to families and fosters can get people who want burgers, fries and beer- hold the kids, please! :)

    ~~~ to clarify- I am a mom and not kid UNfriendly- just sayin' we don't have to cart our rugrats everywhere, and if we can have the grown up get togethers at fosters without kids running around- then maybe both CAN make it. ~~
    I make it there at least every other week and can't say I've had any bad experiences. Thanks to you and me, I don't think Foster's will have any problem surviving :happygrin: Honestly though I would miss Foster's. It is one of the few places nearby that I would hate to see go away.
    We've been to fosters probably about 10-15 times as well. I'd say that of that there have been 3 or 4 times where the food was truly sub par. Cold and undercooked fries (lets face it that's one of the reasons to go there). I've also had undercooked burgers there. I don't personally mind rare burgers but this was a bit rediculous especially since we had waited 20 minutes for our food that day and there were not many people there. We've been fans of fosters ever since the manassas days (my wife did their website way back then) but the last few times I've been to this one I've been unimpressed.
    Personally I've never been much of a fan of red robin. I like their chicken sandwiches but that's about it. Cheeburger Cheeburger has been getting my money lately.
    I don't think the strip malls really care anything about similar restaurants in one area....it's all about the almighty dollar for them!!
    First and foremost, landlords do not care one bit. Plain and simple. I signed a non-compete that should have never let Puccios or any other deli in the shopping center. They ignored it and part of it was that my only recourse was to terminate my lease without penalty. So I leave the center and still have a huge loan to pay with no money coming in??? How was I going to do that?? That was my own fault for not knowing my lease better but the landlords do not care.
    As far as Ryan Park goes, there are two different landlords. I could not go into the Giant shopping center due to Panera Bread. However, I could behind them with a different landlord. That is the case with Red Robbin and Fosters. Two different landlords.
    And, in fact, there is a Subway in the building behind Panera.
    wow- that plain old sucks. two great businesses that have to lose out due to b.s. landlord issues... what a mess some folks are making of Ashburn... what a mess. we have such a stellar opportunity to be an amazing place that people come to from OTHER towns and cities to eat, shop and enjoy- instead we seem to cannabalizing ourselves. what is GOING on.
    i'm sad. I love this place and want it to thrive not burn out.
    ?? The 'second' guy chose to be in that situation. The point here is the landlords are interested in filling their buildings first and foremost. No one forced those tenants in... who is being screwed is the tenant who is having his turf moved in on by competition without the landlord protecting him... but its still the second guy making the choice to move in.
