Any word on when Claiborne will be connected (at the W&OD trail)? That's going to be the bigger change for us.

Any day now, they have to put a traffic light up first.

    ROTF ... stop that ...

Actually, the last time I checked, all it needed was final paving, as the storn drains have been installed, and the road base was down. Of course, that means that the next accident-prone 4 way stops will be Claiborne and Glouster Pkwy, then Claiborne and Russell Branch.

In the near future, post road opening, there is a plan to place a light at Breezehill and Claiborne. This is the intersection just north of Stone Bridge and Hay Road.

(Comment has no reference to my previous attempt at sarcasm)

FWIW ... this evening I travelled directly from Route 7, to Broadlands via Claiborne. The initial paving is down for the 1/4 mile of road that needed finishing. However, the final paving is not down yet, and I fully expect it will be another week before it is done.

Oh, the reason I was able to travel it, is that my Mini is small enough to fit between the barriers. And I wanted to say that I did do it once before we moved to Pittsburgh.

The official "ribbon cutting" ceremony for Claiborne at the W&OD trail is on Monday.

Darn it, Cliff. You beat me to it.

Details will be coming shortly on the "ribbon cutting" as soon as Toll Bros sends it out (they're focused on Loudoun County Parkway in Loudoun Valley Estates, as they are ribbon-cutting that today).

Wanted to clarify- the portion of LoCoPkwy I'm talking about is south of the Greenway in LVEII- before you get to Brambleton.

And unfortunately, I had misread the invite- it was a "groundbreaking" and not a ribbon-cutting... blast.

Just drove by Claiborne and they are now putting down the top coat and sidewalks. They are now also paving the shoulders on Loudoun parkway by redskin camp. Looks like all of a sudden we are going to have some major changes to our road system.

Also had a talk with GY who is in charge of the moorefield property and he said it will most likely be many years before the city part of the property is developed closer to when the subway makes it way out here. He also said they were in no hurry and moorefield will set the standards for new downtowns in this country with world class architecture and it will have have major park like central park in NYC with high rises over looking. Right now they are working with Peterson Companies to get the village center out of the ground which is off loudoun county parkway. What I gathered is moorefield will be developed with the higest standards ever seen in new city development and they will take as long as it takes to achieve that. Shame more developers don't take that same thinking in building their new projects.

yes, Claiborne at Trailside Park (W&OD Trail) opens Monday, and Claiborne and the associated interchange at Route 7 opens tomorrow. The light goes away around 10am or so tomorrow, and you can go straight across into lansdowne or take route 7 WEST to leesburg- no light.

big disclaimer- if you go up Claiborne and want to go EAST on Route 7, you have to temporarily go back to Ashburn Rd (use Russell Branch Pkwy). The final link from Claiborne northbound to 7 eastbound will open in 6-8 weeks. Other than this section, the interchange will be fully operational tomorrow.

So- all the back-up on 659 (Belmont Ridge Road) in the mornings and afternoons of people coming from the Greenway to Route 7 will really be helped by this interchange and the opening of Claiborne at Trailside Park on Monday (5/1/06).

    Just watch those 4-way stops.....

This is not for the Claiborne Interchange--but when will completion of Ashburn Village Blvd. and Waxpool Rd. be finished? VDOT could not assist me in the answers. The intersection where you turn right across from Ashburn Village Blvd. is dangerous.

Sorry for the new threads. I will post correctly.

    Thanks.
