The problem is that the VDOT guys come around, do a 10 minute traffic study, come up with some incredibly dumb solution to a situation, then get off work and drive home to another county. They don't have to live day-to-day with their stupid decisions.

The problem is absolute pure stupidity from the engineers that eliminated the long acceleration lanes both entering waxpool from pacific and again from loudoun county parkway to waxpool up on the urgent care intersection. Does anyone one designing our road system here using any common sense at all. I know the election time waxpool task force which seems only open to a select few will correct these problems by studying this for the next 10 years. ha ha ha

The separate lanes for the ramps from 28S and 28N worked well at first, and people coming from 28S had space and time to turn onto Pacific to go to Wegmans or the car dealerships.

Now the lane from the entrance ramp from 28N continues on until just after the light, and many drivers on the other entrance ramp change lanes to get through the light and quickly merge into the right-hand lane of Waxpool just past the light. All to be ahead of about 4 or 5 other cars....

Goes right up there with the folks who don't want to wait in line to turn Left at LCP. So they go and get into the left-hand-turn to nowhere and make a U-turn onto eastbound Waxpool road, so they can turn right onto LCP.

Yeah.. I curse those 'idiots' every day when I enjoy that extra 3rd lane of traffic on waxpool :rolleyes3:

Don't we all wish there were more lanes.. yes. Do we all realize sometimes you gotta make compromise?

If I had to chose between letting LCP south continue without a stop.. or 3 lanes on waxpool.. I'll take the 3rd lane every day.

Steve there is still plenty of room to make those acceleration lanes long enough to be able to merge onto LCP and still have 3 lanes of traffic. The engineers well who knows what they were thinking when they designed the acceleration lanes or merge lane onto waxpool. The one especially at LCP and waxpool is a potential death trap or an accident waiting to happen at the very least. Not rocket science here.

I have no clue what you are talking about .

Well you are right Steve, how could I be such an idiot the waxpool task force which barely meets and has done nothing but talk about what they are going to do, now without the local residents input unless you are secretly invited is going to fix all the waxpool problems.

Making those merge lanes work properly would of cost peanuts compared to what they will now. Don't forget the lane closures you all will endure again for months and months. Yep have to admit that was a brilliant way to save a few bucks. No problem for me as I don't drive in in rush hour traffic very often. Opps looks like doom and gloom from good old Lee again. Again I am in the design construction business so perhaps I do have a little Knowledge then the arm chair quarter backs that call everything they don't like hearing doom and gloom. Almost every time I make an observation here about a problem I usually have a solution. Far better then the people that want to study ever thing to death. Don't get me wrong about my comments on the waxpool task force but how long ago was the first meeting???? and exactly what is being accomplished other then a bunch of good old boys without the residents input sitting around talking about what they are going to do?????

You know how many projects I have designed and completed since the announcement of this task force???? The idea of a task force is great if it can accomplish something in a reasonable time. This county lately is missing many opportunities because they have to play catch up. I am not sure how many people have moved into this county in the last year or two, but it must be a fraction of the years before, and the problems with traffic and schools seem to be growing not getting any better, maybe this year. SO what is wrong with this picture. We have gone from utopia in some minds to whatever in just a few years and the immediate future does not look good!!!!!

We need action not more studies and talk!!! Lets start with just getting two stop lights on ashburn village drive that are long over due. I guess the Regency should pay for them also not the by right commercial popping up everywhere.

OH well change will come with new leaders!!!!

Now you are off mixing your political agenda in with things that aren't even relevant. Where was this task force when the road expansion was designed and approved? No where - they are irrelevant. What does this task force have to do with the 'idiots' as you called them that implemented the last expansion?

I give up on this!!!!!! Well it looks like the task force will have to address this problem that should not have ever been a problem. Design lesson 101 start with the entire BIG PICTURE and add the details as you go to avoid messes like this. (remember the original springfield mixing bowl) Myth number one;GOD is in the details, as famous architect [SIZE=-1]Mies van der Rohe has said. Total myth as one of my architecture professors once said "God is in the total design and that is what the public sees and feels. The details only keep the design together. Another words if the design (big picture) sucks the details will then be meaningless.

You can design the perfect road all you want - getting it funded and built is another story.

You're shooting the messeger Lee - try *****ing at the people who cut the checks.

    Lee-
Your fixation on the Waxpool Task Force is getting a bit scary.
You are the epitomy of the armchair quarterback. What action are you going to start taking?
Maybe if by-right residential (like Regency) wasn't approved, there'd be a traffic light there?

I thought the taskforce was a great idea at first until the series of events of late that has me worried, it is becoming nothing more then a political ploy and a private club. I certainly have no interest in it unless it can actually do something constructive in a fairly short period of time.

The naive are the ones that think this mysterious process you allude to has to take a long time to make happen.

How many plans Cliff have gotten through plan review not just here but in many other parts of the world. I do this every day.

That is not the point, I do this as a profession not a hobby, and have found through the years these public committees to make any kind of a quick change usually digress with too many people involved with too many opinions to do much good for the time involved. Can anyone here show us any task force in Loudoun that has brought on immediate and lasting results.

I am not saying not to at least see what this task force can accomplish it just seems it has digressed into something that is going nowhere fast. But it is worth a try for those that want to wade thru this lengthy process.
