I was there when it happened (at the dentist). When we stepped outside I could see the vehicles involved and emergency vehicles clearly. The accident didn't look that bad, but it did involve a hazardous material. HAZMAT trucks were busy with something...

Running the 10K yesterday I could smell the gasoline really bad. It was really pungent. I didn't hear or see the accident though.

Fuel spill was the major issue.

Second accident at same location within 3 months. Need a 4-way stop?

Actually, a traffic light is planned for there, but it does not yet have the funding. Not sure if the traffic warrants have been done.

No, just need people to learn how to drive and not speed down that road.

    Ugh - NO

People should learn to drive - that includes accident avoidance and using signals properly.

That intersection has PLENTY of visibility and doesn't need stop signs to allow for traffic to pass.

A-MEN. and ppl should be heavily ticketed and have their license suspended for negligence that leads to an accident. better deterrent than a stop sign any day.

It's AMAZING to me the number of people who don't use their signals.....are we supposed to KNOW what they're doing? I see it all the time and these people have kids in their car...guess what??? When those kids start driving - they probably won't use their signals either....because they saw their parents not using them....

It's not like people actually STOP at the stop signs around here anyway. :angryfire:

no, many don't. and when the whoooole neighborhood is mourning the death of so and so in an automobile accident, it will improve for about a week, and then go back to the same selfish, self-centered behavior that caused said death to begin with.

    sad reality. :shakehead:

Exactly, just watch a little blue Pontiac sunbird run three stop sings in a row from the green way, to claireborne and wyndridge. God help her if she meets someone doing the same thing.

I may be judged poorly, but I found a new passive aggressive game this weekend while putting up lights in the front yard. When someone is driving without any regard for the speed limit (about 20% of the cars), I would tap the soccer ball and let it roll down my driveway and into the street. The sad thing is only a single person slowed down. Most folks never saw it since they weren't paying attention. If a kid were actually following the ball, I expect there would have been problems almost every single time.

I regularly see this at the intersection of Claiborne and Ridgeway and know to look for it every.single.time. so as to save the life of my children and myself. Yesterday I saw someone blow through the intersection right by Harris Teeter. They were headed southbound on Mooreview parkway and didn't even slow down at the stop sign at Wynridge. I was shocked. It's one thing to do a "california stop" but to not even slow down??????

I have done some looking into the helicopter fly-by, the helicopter had nothing to do with the accident in question. I made a phone call to the FAA about this low flying aircraft with no official markings of any kind. The FAA in formed me that this aircraft is owned by a private company out of Manassas VA and they would look into it. I received a phone call on black Friday regarding the aircraft and was told it was an "official" aircraft used by law enforcement. If it is an official air craft then why does it have no markings and why cant the FAA say who it was operated by. Here is the link to a website that list all of the aircraft owned by Aircraft Associates Inc, Take note that most of the aircraft that is owned by this company is used by military special forces.
