I don't care much about NASCAR but it's my understanding Gibbs still owns his NASCAR team and his son is running the operation.

He sure does, and thus we will not see a superbowl for them. Won't see one for my team either, but that's because they suck at superbowls. They tried often enough. :p

Hey, let's get back on topic. If all you "pretenders" out there want to discuss football, you can start a thread for it! My team won't talk about whose butts we are going to kick, we'll just do it!

    GO PATS! :D

Here's a little fun fact I recently learned about "America's Team"...20% of the Dallas Cowboys are owned by Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia.

Hey gammonbabe - you from Buffalo? I am too...and have suffered deeply with the four Super Bowl losses that the Bills had!!! When we used to live in Buffalo - we went to alot of games! Great fans up there and they're not fickle either...unlike Skin fans!!

Redskins fans aren't fickle - they're blinded by false hope (like sheep to the slaughter). Every year the team is better than the year before and is going to win the division/conference/Superbowl/younameit. At least until about halfway through the season. Then reality sets in.

I've been in the area for 4 years, and the same cycle occurs EVERY SINGLE YEAR! The Redskins are the best off-season team in the NFL.

No offense intended to Skins fans; it's just my personal observation. I suffer from the same condition with my Red Sox.

It's true, this is the season of optimism. It happens every year for loyal fans. And I must say, this is the year the Skins have got it together.

I take issue with your interpretation that Skins fans are fickle. I've not seen that. I've seen mid-season frustration. How can one not feel that way, based on what's happened over the last 12 years.

Gammonbabe and Tyger, I sense you still feel the sting of that humiliating defeat the Redskins put on your Bills in Super Bowl XXVI.[^] Below is a little reminder of that glorious day for Skins fans. I recall how intimidated the Bills were that day. Thurman Thomas lost his helmet and missed the first offensive series.

MINNEAPOLIS, JAN. 26 — Had the Washington Redskins dreamed of a way to finish this remarkable season it would have included a composed, big-time effort from quarterback Mark Rypien and a defense that swarmed the Buffalo Bills from beginning to end. The Redskins got all of that and more and rolled over the Bills, 37-24, to win Super Bowl XXVI....

No, we are not fickle, we are not blinded by false hope, we are not deranged...

During a fabulous stretch in the 80's and early 90's we became very spoiled. Much like you are being spoiled by your Patriots right now. If the Pats have another awesome year, expect trouble as the "star" players will all want more money that does not exist under the salary cap.

Oh, and I can't seem to remember. who was it that last beat your team? :)

Aw, T8, why do you bring the Pats into this? I'm not trying to make comparisons between our two teams. Believe me, I've seen my share of mediocre teams, yet I was never driven to hysteria with unrealistic expectations. I came into this area 4 years ago, and have not yet seen a team that was better than .500. Yet, every year Skins fans and the local media proclaim this year's team the greatest thing since sliced bread. It just sets you up for disappointment.

Oh, and I'd trade an early season loss to a weak team for a Superbowl title. But that's just me.

Not false hope, eternal optimism and die hard loyalty through thick and thin.
Caps fans are blinded by false hope.

Yes it has been a rough 10 years for the Redskins and their fans but we have
stuck with the team during the drought and are expecting much better days
to come. I have been a Skins Fan since George Allen's reign and will keep
rooting for them whether they win or lose. I believe that Gibbs will revive
this team. It may take a few years but we will get back to the Super Bowl
    and win again.
