    With you on this one!

We bit the bullet last year, after years of real trees (we both grew up with fake ones). We got a Kirkland tree from Costco for ~ $300 and it actually stayed up from Christmas to Easter because we had not place to store it during basement construction. My husband proclaimed this year that we have gotten our $'s worth. The hardest part was bringing the pieces up from the basement. It was up in 10 minutes! No more pine needles all over the floor in January, no worries about watering it and the best part - no stringing/unstringing the lights. But I do miss the Christmas smell.

Someone was asking about storage - when I got our tree last year, Costco also sold storage bags that fit our 9ft (??) tree.

We retain the nice tree smell by purchasing a wonderful candle from ZaZu over in the shops by RT 7 at the end of Ashburn Village Parkway. I believe it is a Frasir Fir candle. It really does smell like a tree - better than the yankee candle try.

These costco trees - do you not disassemble them to store them? And have to spread the branches out full again, etc the following year?

It is in 2, maybe 3, pieces. If I recall, the branches collapse against the trunk for storage and then just fall back into place when placed upright. My husband was done setting it up in 10 minutes. I made some minor tweaks when decorating. Very easy IMHO.

Costco will not be getting in anymore of the fake trees this season. But they do have the pre-cut now. We got ours last weekend 33.99 for an 8ft Frasier Fir. Best deal I have ever found on a frasier. It is beautiful too.

We have a great pre-lit tree, that even has remote control!! Best thing we ever did was to buy that tree on sale at JC Penny on Black Friday about 4-5 years ago. If you miss the smell, do what I do, put a Glade plug-in with a pine sent right next to the tree! Works like a charm :)

Don't use those plug in smelly things as they've been found to be Estrogen interceptors.
