I forgot all about the need to get new pool passes. I have misplaced the application and my kids are VERY angry with Mommy. What do I do?

You can download an application from the HOA website http://www.broadlandshoa.org/committees/recreation/2007PoolPass.pdf and fill it out. Unfortunalty the office was open all day yeasterday but is now closed until Tuesday. On Tuesday drop off the application and they can give you a day and time to come in for pictures. I don't know if they still have openings for next week but I know they were scheduleing people for Tuesday and Friday pictures yesterday. As far as getting in this weekend your best hope is seeing if someone you know in the neighborhood is going to the pool and would be willing to take you and/or your kids in as their guests. However going to the pool that way means you can't go in unless your friend is there and you must leave when your friend leaves so there is no flexibility for you.

If you have any other questions I iwll be happy to answer them for you. You can PM me or email me directly at ssdkapinos@yahoo.com

They were open yesterday? I called the Nature Center number and got the message that they were closed yesterday on their answering machine. My daughter was a little peeved that I had not scheduled the pictures yet. I left a message and didn't get a call back.

They were open from 9 to 5 but already had 600 people scheduled for pictures so you wuld not have been able to call for an appointment. But people were stopping in to schedule pictures for next week and to drop off applications that they had forgotten to turn in. When I was there from around 11 to 12 I do not think they had less then 5 people in line (with 2 people working the desk and 1 taking pictures) at all times so I am sure they wre not answering the phone.

Question: are they taking last year's guest passes or not? I thought they weren't but yesterday I saw someone using a guest pass from last year. I hope they do honor them, because I have a lot left over!

Each family has 10 guests on there account for this year. And this year we are accepting all 2006 guests passes. Starting next year your passes will just roll over from 1 year to the next to a max of 20.

I thought the purpose of getting new passes with pictures was so residents did not have to hand over their passes to be filed in a small index card sized box and could be scanned instead. Yet you still have to wait while one of the lifeguards search through the masses for your pass when you are ready to leave.

Also why aren't there more lounge chairs, there seems to be a lot of empty space along the fence area.

Murph - there are typically more than enough pool chairs during the year with the exception on a few holiday weekends.

I for one would not more $$$ spent on chairs just so there are enough for these 3 weekends.

On saturday my wife and I visited the pool and it was interesting that there were some people that showed up thinking they could get in that were not from the community and actually raised a bit of a stink that they were not allowed in. Apparently all year last year they managed to get in.

ok, so if i understand this correctly, we can use last year's guess passes and we ALSO automatically have 10 on this year's card already on file? Is that correct, and if you don't have the physical guest passes from last year, is it on your file that you have them and did not use them or are you out of luck?

It is not on record anywhere so if you have lost the physical pass you are out of luck. However if you have managed to hold on to yours from last year we are continuing the practice that all guest passes that were not use last year can be used this year. We did not want to eliminate that convince just because we went to the new system.

The purpose was so unauthorized people - nonresidents, guests and relatives claiming to be residents - couldn't use the pool causing our dues paying members to be shut out of the pool. Also, by scanning when you arrive and when you leave we have an accurate count of how many people are in the pool at any particular time.

The purpose of the new pass system is to eliminate the people who have been getting into our pools that were not suppose to be there This alone may have been a big reason we did not hit capacity at any pool even though it was a beautiful weekend and pools were crowded. We also got the new system to better keep track of how many people are at the pool at any given time. This way the HOA can better chart pool usage at each pool and hour by hour. As the HOA moves forward in the decisions about outside memberships this information will come in handy in deciding which pools to eliminate and maybe even hours to limit. Thirdly we check people in and OUT of the pool if you don't turn your passes in most people will just leave and not remember to check out making it immpossible to track usage as listed above.

As for Lounge charis I am not sure what pool you are refering to but we just replaced several thousand dollars worth of chairs at Community center and Summerbrooke. Southernwalk has had ample number of chairs for the last few years so we only restrapped the ones that were in need and it only has 2 less charis then last year from broken frames.

I hope that better explains our new system and seating but if you would like to discuss it further PM me and I will give you my phone number and we can talk

Is there any update on the website residents can go to to see how many people are currently at each of the pools?

That website doesn't exist :) It was just a concept we talked about that could be possible with the new technology. It's something that will have to be looked at later. With a brand new system, there are more critical items that demand the attention first :)

When we were at Southern Walk over the weekend, they didn't scan the cards when we left. They said the system was down. If they don't check you out (or in when it isn't working), then how are the counts going to be accurate?

The system was not set up totally correct this past weekend but we have now worked out most of the glitches so things should be running much smoother. Thus checking in and out wil be done with more efficency allowing it to be done more accuratly and with out people waiting in long lines either way
As far as accuracy there is too much human error involved for me to ever think these are 100% accurrate but it is much better then relying soley on the lifegaurds to count and not make up numbers. Additionally they have to do a head count as part of there daly records. It is easier to go back and compare computer vs what the manager is counting. Obviously if there is a big discrpency then we know one was way off and we can adjust from there
