Look's like there was some vandalism last night in the area of Vestal's Gap and Hunters Green Square. My wife said she saw several pumpkins thrown through the rear windows of parked vehicles. Windows smashed and glass everywhere.

I too saw that this morning while walking the dog. A new looking Honda Elelment parked at the corner of Vestals Gap and Hunter Green had the rear taillight smashed out. Obviously, the owner was none too happy to say the least. Sadly, these acts are happening more often in the Broadlands. What is even sadder is the possibility these incidents are being carried out by folks who actually live in Broadlands -- your neighbors. Yeah, I sometimes engaged in mischeivous activities in my younger days, but would never think to cause damage to a neighbor's personal property.

If damaging some other neighbor's personal property (not in your neighborhood) made your mischeivous activity right, then if the vandals came from outside our neighborhood, this reported activity should be OK??

I think he means he would do bad things.. but not things that would damage people's property. Calm down

I also wanted to mention that we had someone that hit our trash can, which then plowed in to the side of my new van and left a nice dent and peeling paint. This person also lost a headlight cover (which I have). I have filed a police report and ask if any of you see a white or blue late model car with a missing passenger side light cover to please let me know. There were 6 reports filed this morning due to different types of vandalism.

    GCyr,

Allow me to clarify. By "mischievous", I meant TPing a neighbors tree, or soaping a few windows. I do not under any circumstance condone damaging someone else's property, whether in Broadlands or not. I believe most folks would agree there is a measurable difference between TPing and busting out taillights.

    Hope that clears things up.

    Donna,

Good find! Our Parts Dept. here at the dealership often assists the Sheriff's Dept. and Leesburg Police with identifying various body parts based on the production numbers stamped into the part. Once the make and model of the vehicle are identified, they will ask the applicable Parts Dept. to keep an eye out for customers who request that particular part number for a possible match to the suspect vehicle.

A visitor parked her car in front of our house on Halloween and had a pumpkin smashed on the tailgate. It made big dent and broke the handle to open the tailgate. She was parked on Vestals Gap near the intersection with Springwell. The police officer who came out was very nice - he flashed his lights and siren for my 2 year old.

I had to chime in on this one.
Over a year ago I saw these kids preteens chopping down some small trees with an hachet and playing in the small common area next to my home. In a nice way I told one of the parents and they took a hostile attitude and said it couldn't be my child. Mind you I was trying to do the right thing in the intrest of the child. Thought the parent would want to know. Instead I was met with denial.

Fast forward to this year. My home sits on the school bus corner with a small patch of trees between in the common area. We have a large porch that overlooks all this. And we hang out on the porch all the time. Porch is up high and somewhat hidden especially in the summer. Does not matter but most don't see us but we see everything on our corner. Amazing what people do sometimes in public when they don't think anyone sees them ha ha ha ha especially a few of the dog walkers. :pofl:

Anyway the preteens or just teens are an active bunch at the bus stop :pofl: and slowly got the stop sign all twisted. No problem I called the HOA management company and the quickly had it fixed. I mentioned how the kids destroyed the stop sign to a neighbor and again the response was I don't believe those kids could of done that to the stop sign. Oh well more denial!!!!

Now my criminal attorney brother says why don't you video tape them the next time you see them being destructive. Then he gets this big laugh and says yep wait to the parents or anyone finds out you are video taping them they will hate you forever. ha ha ha I asked him is that legal?? He says of course it is they are on public property and still pictures are not as good because they most of the time don't capture the whole story. hmmmmmmm :pofl:

Crazy you try to do the right thing then parents go into denial sometimes.

Then my brother reminds me what I was like as a kid. I don't think we want to go there. ha ha ha ha ha

Polar, thanks for the info. That's exactly what I hoped to do. I went to a parts department and called the dealer and they couldn't tell me anything from the numbers. I do know that it was a Chrysler as their sign was stamped on the light. Who would you suggest I contact to find out the make/model?

Wow! That is terrible news. I did see a few pumpkins in the roads and thought that was irritating but typical I guess? However, throwing pumpkins thru car windows and vandalizing cars is a whole different level and VERY TERRIBLE! I sure hope somehow these losers will be caught and prosecuted. I definitely would press charges.

Parents needs to start beating their kids.... I mean Punishing their kids for doing wrong things such as stealing, lying, damaging other people properties, etc

I remember doing stupid things as a kid and if my parents found out in any kind of way.....WACK, SMACK, BELT, SLIPPER, BROOM, EAR PULLING...you name it.... but I guess people these days would consider this child abuse

But it sure did make me twice about doing something stupid/wrong..
    and I turned out okay...

about 2 years ago I was at a family gathering and I remember a father telling his son that what he (the boy ) did was wrong... the boy told his father No..., and punched his father int he chest.... the fathers reply was... "Hey son, that's not nice...." I can tell you right now my Mom would have whooped my a## on the spot. This is how these kids grow up not being afraid of their parents and consequences.

    oh well
    Just my 2 cents...

    My .02...

Rasie your child your way and let other parents raise their children as they see fit.

georgesc is a good egg. :)

Unfortunately the PC climate has influenced the definition of punishment to the point where there's no real consequences when children act up. I was spanked also and I turned out just fine...my grandmother even made me go pick my own tree branch to be whipped with and if I brought back a dead one, she'd make me go back and get a green, live one. Pretty harsh, but I respected her and never did the same thing twice.

People are raising a generation of brats. Spare the rod, spoil the child holds true, I guess.

If this were to happen today, you're *** would be hauled off into family court.

Yeah, let the little brat bring it on. Worse yet are the parents in complete denial that their little angels could do anything wrong. Keep on enabling a troublesome youngster and you'll have bigger problems than "family court".

There are plenty of people in this world who have been "disciplined" and turned out fine and plenty who have turned out bad. Same thing for spoiled kids, plenty still rotten and plenty who are "normal"

    Flip a coin!

It's not even a matter of them being spoiled anymore, it's that they're allowed to get away with a lot more with little to no consequences.
