I was looking through the HOA docs this morning and didn't see anywhere this topic was mentioned.

I used to live in a community where NO overnight street parking was allowed. Had to be in the driveway. I know that isn't the case here, but that is the type of info. I'm looking for. WHAT is allowed to be parked on the street and FOR HOW LONG its allowed to sit there without moving.

If anyone could point me to that info, if such rules do exist, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Its not in the Modifications booklet, but in the actual declaration for Broadlands. I don't have my old reference manual here, but from what I remember:

No RV's overnight (even in your driveway) other than for loading and maintenance . However, let the HOA know that you're going to have it there for a day or two, and it'll be OK. More than that is a no-no.

No commercial vehicles visible from other lots (that's even in your driveway).

There's more ... but you'll have to look it up yourself.

I *think* the only limitation is parking of commercial vehicles, boats, or other trailerstuff within the community.

"The Actual Declaration..." I'll have to figure out what that is and if I have a copy of it. Thanks. And no... No RVs in my future. :)

(Its about a car that isn't mine and hasn't moved in a while.)

The rules are in the Declaration For Broadlands, Section 8.1, paragraph (n) on page 39.

Only that they must be servicable, that is:

No flat tires, not on blocks or constantly under repair, must have current registration and county decal.

Snoopy, you might want to call Dept. of Building and Development on 703-777-0397 for housing code violations. It sounds to me that you have numerous families living in the dwelling. They will take care of this matter quickly if there is a violation.QUOTE=snoopy]Any rules against how many car can belong to a single home owner....we have one family on our street that has 9 cars !!![/QUOTE]

If the homeowner is subleasing basement or some rooms, this is in defiance of the Declaration for Broadlands, and the HOA can also weigh in .

Neil, this is not quite correct. Section 8.5 of the Declaration for Broadlands states:
"No portion of any dwelling unit located in a Residential Lot (other than the entire dwelling unit) shall be leased for any period; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that a reasonable number of roommates is permitted."

This means that if the owner lives there, he can have additional "roommates." The definition of a reasonable number is now controlled by the County. If someone thinks a house is in violation, contact the County and they can investigate.

oooh, i have an idea, why dont you do the neighborly thing and actually talk to them! What a crazy idea, it is much more fun to sit on a message board and whine about it and threaten to call the county!

Snoopy: Ummm, you got nine cars.
    Offender: So.....?
Snoopy: Ummm, well, can you get rid of them?
Offender: No. Get off of my property before I let loose my dog that I don't pick up after.

    simonds2k4,

Please read before you comment on my posting. I did not "threaten to call the county!" That was posted by others.

Secondly, I along with neighbors did talk to them and they thought it was not a problem parking their cars in front of other people's house all the time.
( although they are thoughtful enough to rotate which house they are parking their flow over cars day to day )

It is not just the number of cars. Think of nine cars being moved / parked
throughout the night. Not too pleasant.

Cliff ... a roomate means that they're sharing the rooms upstairs, what I mean by leasing is a basement where they have their own sink, stove and entrance. In effect, a separate apartment.

How about an amendment to the Declaration which specifies what "reasonable" means? I don't think 9 vehicles for one home is "reasonable".
