Well, there's a post about the safeway sign with the HOA doing something about this is no different. In the past the HOA has solved issues that the police cant, thats why.

And the HOA is in developer control, the same developer who planned Boradlands and they do have interest in maintaining a high class image. How did Saul get the land for that shopping center? I bet the bought it from Tetra - Van metre - the developers.

Seems to me that Homer may have a valid complaint if any/all of these ordnances were violated. I'm not sure the forums are the proper venue to request HOA action, though (it has frequently been pointed out that the HOA members on these forums are using the forums in their personal capacity).

Perhaps a telephonic/written complaint to the HOA would be more proper...

I've already called Wes. This way Neil, Cliff and Staci now know the ordinances violated.

FWIW ... most of the homeowner members of the HOA board read these, and trust me, Cliff speaks for all of us when he says there's not much we can do about it, except write a letter to the center owners.

    <HOA Hat off>

What I suspect is that last night was 321 Ashland's official Grand Opening, so they brought in the searchlight. I myself was wondering if we were expecting the Luftwaffe, but that's neither here nor there.

As a one or two night advertising gimmick, I see no harm. We all want good restaurants in this area, and if this helps to get another one off to a great start, so be it.

However, if someone does want to call the police, please do so, just use the non-emergency phone line.

BTW .. Homer, that is not a residential zone ... so the 'commercial parking in residential zone' does not apply.

Where was the light truck parked? On Clairborne or cross street or in the shopping center parking lot?

Neilz - Atlantic Tanning did break at least one ordinance and that is all it takes. Now, after that first incident I have not noticed the van parked illegally. If they haven't, then "we" need to get over it IMO.

It was parked where the sidewalk would be if there was one. It did violate the ordinaces 480.02, 480.06, 480.105.

If it were only one incident sure, but these things have the tendency to become habit. I learned a long time ago that if you dont speak up you will get walked on, especially around here.

You act like this is going to be there forever. Its a promotion.. sheez.

Want to complain about light? What about the people who live next to summerbrook pool who have the BRIGHT lights from that parking lot illuminating the backside of their homes nearly unobstructed? That would be legit complaint IMO.

But crying over a spotlight that was there what... one night? Sorry, sounds like someone was cranky yesterday to me.

Want to complain? Complain to the developer of the shopping center and the county.

And how long of a 'annoyance' do you consider this spotlight to be vs a permanently installed sign? Apples and oranges

Excuse me?! Since when do people always back up everything I say? It's not like I post a lot beyond updates and things about LAN gaming, etc anyhow.

And as far as I'm concerned, I thought the spotlight was pretty cool. Saw it going to Starbucks last night. It's not like it's something new, you see these every year for grand openings all over.

Its not parked in the road. Not applicable.

You'd have to say specifically where it was parked. Basically this equates to no parking with 20 ft of an intersection.

Wasn't on a sidewalk.. so no
    Nope.. not either
Not on a crosswalk.. and I doubt it was within 20ft of it.
DOn't know the exact location.. but unless it was in front of the sitting area under construction...
    nope.. no double parking
    Nope..
    Doubt it..
    Doubt it..
Not in the road so... nope
    Not in the road..
    Nope..

Maybe you shoud be more specific in your complaints.

Whatever Steve. Maybe I should park one of these in front of your house.

No offense to you Hornjo, but you have posted things that I have said in the past in which I was slammed by the same folks here. These people will attack me on anything. I still stand by my statement.

No offense Homer, but have you ever considered that the reason that people 'attack' you in these forums is that you have a tendancy to always want to have the last word in any argument and in many cases, refuse to bow down to other's opinions' on the particular subject being debated? Let's face it, people get tired of the ongoing negativity and fight back. Yet, you continue to post, so it doesn't seem to be bothering you. So why are you complaining and trying to bring in HornerJo into this 'battle'? You still haven't shown an example to back up your statement...

As for your comment, have you ever thought that the issue might be HOW you come across when posting your comments?

Now, let's move on and get back to the main subject of this thread, the SEARCHLIGHT.

Homer, reply if you wish, but I'm done with this thread and won't be replying in here.

    Thank you.

Nice response -- filled with logic and thoughtful analysis. In fact, this response rivals one of my favorites: when you told me to "pick a finger" or something to the effect that you were flipping me off. Gee, and I wonder why people don't side with you?
