Funny you ask this; I was over there shooting just yesterday. I'm not a member there, but I do go about once a month, more if I can persuade my other shooting friend to go.

If you don't plan on using the range more than twice a month, the regular membership isn't worth it and it's probably cheaper to 'pay as you go'.

As for the gym, I've been to the range about a dozen times, I have yet to 'see' the gym or see anyone going there to work out. The original intent was to make this a 'private club', but the economy and other circumstances forced to ownership to change their business model. It's essentially a range, that just happens to have a small gym. I honestly think that it would make more sense getting a regular membership there to use the range, and save the rest of your money to pay for a real gym.

The ranges there are great btw. They have some smart people monitoring everything and the folks who go shooting there are very responsible. It's also great that it's so close; if you have about 1 hour free, you can head out there, go through some rounds and be back for whatever else you had planned for the rest of the day. In all the times I've been there, I've had to wait only once, and that was about 10 minutes and during the holidays. Gave me plenty of time to look at the things they had for sale, etc.

So to summarize, go because they have three ranges, don't because they have a gym :)

    Just my personal opinion.

I didn't think Canadiens were allowed to have guns! :)
I also take my boys there to use the range. Kind of expensize to do it regularly ($40/hr for two people to shoot targets.)

I didn't pa $40 last time I was there. I think I only paid $25 or $30. And while were there almost 90 min, they didn't charge us anything extra. It's not as cheap as NRA, but it's closer, nicer and much more roomier.

How's the pricing for range bullets? Is there an affordable local ammo shop?

I usually go to Dicks for my ammo, but last Sunday I bought a box of 9mm at the range for $20.95+tax.

It's amazing how quickly I go through 4 boxes ;-)

Non-member prices are $25/hr for the first person, $15/hr each additional shooter. This assumes everyone shares the same lane.

If you go with a member and you are not a member, then you only pay the $15/hr fee when sharing a lane.

The gym is now a separate membership.

Didn't know there were so many other shooters here. We should have a Broadlands day up there.

I usually buy at the gun shows when they come around, I think 1k bullets was <200 dollars for 9mm. (or right at $200) which lasts me about a year depending on how much I get out to the range.

I'm up for a Broadlands Shooting Outing. We would need to get a firm headcount and coordinate with SEG, which I don't think would be an issue with them...

OK, let's get this party started. Please post what DAY/TIME works best for you. Like - "Wednesday after 5:30 PM" Once I have that, we will talk DATES. And a few Mangos.

And didn't SEG post in here? Tell'em to get their rear ends in here and cut us a special.

Did you guys see the 1 free hour range coupon on the front of one of our local newspapers the other week? I need to go try it out... I've been inside to look around but not to the ranges yes.

Seems to be a collection of gun enthusiasts out here, so I'd like to ask some questions.

I've been to shooting ranges a few times, but not in a few years. I'd like to own guns at some point, probably a hand gun and a shot gun. I'm interested in taking a class or two on proper gun use, cleaning, storage, care, etc. Can anyone provide me with any recommendations for how to do that? I've found some stuff on the NRA website, but there's so many options I'm not really sure what's best for me.

Also, I'm not really sure about how to go about selecting the right guns to purchase at some point. I know I'm not really fond of the design of Glocks because I have large hands. How would one select guns to purchase?

Finally, there was mention of a gun show coming up in February. What goes on at these gun shows? Is it mostly buying and selling or are there some demos? Are gun shows typically the best place to find the best price on a gun?

Thanks for your help in advance and sorry to sort of hijack the thread... I'll try to circle back here by saying that if/when I purchase a gun I plan to use it at the Silver Eagle Group place.
