    Hi,

Today I noticed 2 police cars at the intersection around 6 PM. One officer was actually outside his car directing some vechiles to stop at the shoulder while another was issuing ticket. Do you know what was happening?
I see police cars at the intersection quite frequently and I guess it has something to do with people taking free right turns..

    They check for expired tags.

$80 ticket. Could have sworn I'd taken care of it, but it was my husband's car that I had done.

i'm all for tickets when the law is broken, but to wait around giving minor tix while there are reckless drivers, people going 50 in a neighborhood 20, inconsiderate boobs who suddenly change lanes with no signal causing you to jam on your brakes and spill your omelete onto the floor... i'd love to see resources going toward curtailing THAT instead.

noooo- :) it was on the passenger seat in a box, waiting patiently until i got to work to be devoured. when i had to slam on my breaks b/c some idiot in the far RIGHT lane decides he needs to get into the far left turning lane, my omelet took a hit. lickily it was still delicious, fresh mushroom, baby spinach and sundried tomato courtesy of Cafe Rumi!

i digress- stop the bad reckless life threatening drivers before of trolling for low hanging fruit at stop lights!

I'm sure they are also checking for people driving without a license. I'm all for the police doing this. That's been going on lately and it's unbelievable how many people are driving around without one. Pretty scary!

They do this type of traffic stop at Rt 28 exit off the toll road all the time.

They used to do it often as well at the bottom of the ramp off the greenway to Claibourne

It's simple traffic enforcement... I don't see the gripe.

Exactly. Police prescence is very important because it can stop the person doing 65 in a 25.

Yes anyone can get ticketed, but dosen't it seem that 1 out of 3 people here aren't attentive when they drive?

an accident on the waxpool/rt 28 ramp put 2 or 3 ppl in critical condition- a teenage girl driing a civic drifted aimlesly into the right lane causing a truck to swerve, flip and put THOSE innocent passengers and driver in a medivac copter to the hospital. she walked away with no injuries and a ticket for not staying in her lane. that oughta learn 'er- think the ticket is at least $80....?

I guess the good news is that nobody runs the stop sign while they're there.

The police presence at that 4-way stop is strictly for visible enforcement, it is not a checkpoint where everyone is getting pulled over. They are almost exclusively checking tags and inspections.

    From a LCSO friend. ;)

As for revenue, it works for me if it helps keep my taxes down.

Sadly - it looks like I can't help catching silly drivers as KaosCam would $400!!!!

However, a GREAT BIG SOUTOUT :angryfire: to the ***** Driving School!!!! Winessed your bronze colored minivan (VA Plate &^%$-#!*) make a left from Ryan onto MooreView WITHOUT SO MUCH A SLOWDOWN while the instructor yakked on his cell phone and shuffled papers (yes, just like in the commercial). THEN instructed his student to turn right, from the left hand lane onto Windridge!!!!

Oh, and to the black BMW 500 series (personalized VA tags ******) who thinks it's OK to tailgate bikes - I got your number too. :nono:

This might be permitted seeing as the other direction both lanes are left turn lanes. As long as the driver remains in the left lane, both lanes from Mooreview Pkwy onto Wynridge I think allow right turns (there is no straight, and the left lane isn't marked left-turn only).

Now, if they again forgot to stop at the stop sign... maybe the teacher is the driver of the big, black SUV that has been noted in other threads, who himself/herself ignores stop signs and speed limits.
    :drive:
