timeline for the lights at broadland blvd and claiborne??

I just can't believe how stupid some drivers around here are. It' absolutely mind-boggling. Either they come from another planet or are just too busy on their cell phones to bother with driving.

 

I think I was in that same pile up last night. It was a free for all - one person moved into the striped lane and then 5 more cars just jumped in and followed along. Nothing like 3 lines of traffic attempting to negotiate a 4 way stop.

 

What is the holdup on these lights now? Why can't VDOT do their job?

 

Or perhaps their driving school instructors were from another planet.

Those lights need to be turned on immediately.

 

I told you.....drivers are so stupid, it's not funny....WHY OH WHY did VDOT put those arrows in that lane and not turn on the flashing lights at the same time!! How stupid is that - as soon as I saw those arrows in the lane with the stripes - I thought "OH NO - here's an accident waiting to happen...and it's only a matter of time".

 

There the same driving instructors who tell them to keep 3 car lenghts in front of them when stopped at a light.

 

it's a symptom of a bigger disease- the "i'm the only one that matters" attitude that makes people drive like idiots, talk loudly on cell phones in public places, bring babies to movies, wear clothing with curse words or offensive statements on clothing in places wear children are present...

seems like respect for others is a dying value. guess that's a different thread... i'll climb off the soap box now.

 

2:20PM -- The traffic lights are blinking and the white stripes have been removed from the turn lanes -- one week to go!!

 

Pedestrians run for your lives!!!

 

The lights are flashing !! I thought I was seeing spots before my eyes !!

 

16 Way stop. I know we lived in the technology corridor, but wow. Good thing the car's been paid for for six years.

 

Update ... according to Van Metre, the lights should be going green/yellow/red on Tuesday !!

 

wouldn't a surveillance camera at that intersection over the next few days be interesting entertainment! not exactly the worlds wildest police videos, but a great study in driving sociology 101...

I sent a text message to my daughter ... hopefully she'll see it before she heads home from Stone Bridge later tonight .... she should be safe from the crazies since she just has to make a right hand turn there. It's almost safer to let her drive down Belmont Ridge Rd!

 

I just saw a group of pigs flying!

 

Saw a woman this morning make a left turn from Claiborne to Broadlands without even stopping!! There was another car in the intersection that had to slam on its brakes to keep from being hit by this moron. I can see someone blowing straight through, but making a turn??? She thought she absolutely owned the whole stinking road and everyone on it. Must've been late for a nail appointment.

 

Last night coming home on Claireborne seeing that the turn lanes had opened and the lights flashing, a feeling of severe dread came over me. I wasn't sure I was going to make it out of the intersection alive.
