I swear to god. I do not know what is wrong with this community! My daughter was walking home from the bus on Ridgeway Drive, when teen guys in a black sedan - probably on their way home from BHWS. THREW A PIZZA BOX OUT THE WINDOW AT HER HEAD!!!!!

If I ever find these kids I will tar and feather them and make them eunichs! Enough already. Where are the parents teaching these kids right from wrong. No wonder she wants to move out of Cashburn....!

OH geez... she does NOT deserve that. I'm so sorry. Makes me really want to keep my kids SMALL. If I don't allow them to grow up then they can't (a) do stupid things like that, or (b) be a victim of some other cretin doing stupid things like that.

    Hugs to Kaosgirl.

Isn't the act considered "attemped assault" or something? Did you report the incident?

I hope your daughter is okay.

I don't know if Broadlands does the community policing thing with the sheriff's dept. like Ashburn Village does but if so you should contact them and they can keep an eye out for a vehicle matching that description being driven by teens. The sheriff's dept. is pretty good about that kind of thing and may even already be familiar with that car and it's driver.

Yes, it IS assault. We did not report it because we had no tag number. As KaosGirl is not really into cars, and was rather shaken at the incident I doubt she'll know what kind of car it was.

Thankfully, she was not actually struck, the box landed next to her but was obviously meant to hit her.

I agree with Kaos it is assault. In fact that throwing a projectile from a moving car is a felony and considered as felony assualt.

I believe it is considered in law enforcement as 'missile'. I hope she is okay, does BWHS have a anti-bullying policy?

I would still report it as you have the color of car, approximate time of day, etc. What happens the next time those bozos decide to throw rocks or bottles and someone gets hit?

Not to belabor the point or this thread, but I think it should be reported. You would be surprised at how well the local law enforcement folks know the problem teenagers. We have a punk kid across the street from us and he and his friends are well known by the sheriff's dept.

I don't think it is this community, this community is full of wonderful people. I think there are just some teenagers who are absolutely clueless about the consequences that their abhorrent behavior can have, and often there are parents who are absolutely clueless about their teenagers.

Totally DISagree with you! Broadlands offers nothing to teenagers, absolutly nothing. Yes its a great community, but for young married wealthy families who just like to complain about everything and then blame other parents. All broadlands has to offer is food and thats just aboout it. Im sure teenagers get sick and tired of doing the same thing everyday. Its not fun. And I'm sure you've all done something stupid like "throwing a pizza box" at someone just for a laugh when you where younger... Just think about it - if you where a teenager eager to go out and have fun exactly what would you do in Broadlands??

So a teenagers boredom is a free pass to do stupid things and possibly hurt others?

Oh, and stop YOUR complaining about other people complaining! ;)

I know what it does offer, the opportunity to obey civil laws and to avoid prosecution by authorities for running wild in the streets like anarchist. There is plenty to do in the Broadlands, perhaps some parents could do some things with their teenagers too, what a concept.

Gosh, when I was a teenager, I lived in a community much like Broadlands except there was even LESS for teenagers as we didn't even have food. Oh, I am exaggerating a bit - there was a cheesesteak place near the high school and a McDonalds & 7-11 tucked away a few miles in the other direction but that was it in the area of town in which my family lived.

So, what did we do for fun besides throwing pizza boxes out of cars, smoking pot, defacing public areas with graffiti, breaking streetlamps and complaining?

Let's see....I was busy practicing a musical instrument in order to make All-State and earn numerous college scholarships. I was busy with sports too, playing on the tennis team. There was the spring musical every year (pit band) as well as Odyssey of the Mind. Add in studying and a social life and a part time job and there just wasn't time for all of those "fun" activities mentioned in my second paragraph.

If you're that bored, you're just not busy enough.

Perhaps teenagers don't want to hang out with their parents. Perhaps I work a 9-5 just like the rest of you so I'm plenty busy. Perhaps you people grew up a dull life. Perhaps your a stay at home parent who lives for these threads.

Honestly I don't see anything wrong with the actions of teenagers here. Kids are going to break the rules its a part of growing up so stop complaining about it. If you don't like how this picture perfect community has turned out move to d.c or baltimore or new york then you'll have something to complain about - real issues in the neighbor hood. ahhh such a scary thought:scaredeyes:

Bye my fellow Broadland HOA members!
