Yesterday, in our community, there were 3 suspicious-lookin teens (ages 16 -18) roaming about in the street. Someone called the cops and the cops arrived asap. 3 of 'em escaped into the woods as soon as they saw the cops.

Beware everyone, if you see some one suspicious, call the cops immediately.

Make sure you lock you homes and stay safe.

They were seen around noon. Not sure if I can tell the community name in a forum, but it is in broadlands.. I am very scared too, not just because of thefts happening in Ashburn/sterling area, but also concerned about the kids walking home from the school/bus stop.

Three teenagers hanging around at noon means they were probably cutting school...also, a good reason for trying to hide in the woods.

What do you mean you can't tell the community name? Broadlands is a large community. A little more info would be appreciated instead of causing widespread panic.

Were there any actual burglaries attributed to these teens? Cutting school's bad, but why look cross-eyed at anyone caught walking around while being teenaged?

That is what I want to know too. They could have been on drugs and just ran to avoid the police.

i'd like to know what made them suspicious too. if it was slouching around in a hoodie and baggy pants, with TOAL 'TUDE well.... that's just being "cool".... lol

but if they were BEHAVING suspiciously- appearing to case homes, walking up driveways, looking like lookouts- THAT is clear.

if it was during school hours and they were ditching class, that could explain running away. but if it WASN'T school hours- why run unless they ARE afraid of something?

knwing the area they were roaming in would really be helpful- Broadlands is a BIG place. just give the closest main intersection if that makes you more comfy! :)

Probably ditching school or had a little pot on them. We do live in one of the safest places in the country. However with the price of gold over $1100 petty burglaries are on the rise. I mean if they can sneak into an unlocked house and steal a few old gold chains and rings, big payoff. So keep the doors locked and the lights on!

ooh! I think I just figured out how to get my basment finished WITHOUT a home equity loan!!!

seriously though... be smart neighbors- no easy targets like open garage doors, unlocked cars with valuables in view, etc...

No matter what these kids were doing this is a great oppertunity to remind everyone to make sure you are locking your house and car doors, closing your garages and that all of your outside lights are properly working. Doing small things can help protect you in big ways whether the threat is from these kids or somewhere else.

Well you should always have your secruity system on when you are home - especially for those of us who are home alot during the day. that brings some sort of relief.

I just signed up for crimereports.com -- what a great site! Anyway, it shows that there were two burglaries right in my neighborhood yesterday early am and late pm. Coincidence? Was it this neighborhood?

I recommend everyone sign up for this site.

I want to know what is going on in the 22500 block of Belmont Ridge. There are more incidents there than anywhere else.
