Let's put this enhanced, non-taxpayer paid, improvement to 659 into perspective.

BRMC is going to widen the current two lane Belmont Ridge Rd (659) to four lanes. The section to be widened with this $8,000,000 profer is from the Greenway to Brambleton.

For all those kids going, or soon to be going, to the new Briar Woods H.S.; this is the road you will be traveling. For the parents of those kids, I would think this is a huge benefit. If my kids were to being attending Briar Woods, I'd want them going on a safer, wider road. I currently don't let my kids drive on the two lane Belmont Ridge Road because of the road condition, volume of traffic, and the constant construction truck traffic.

This is another example of BRMC looking for ways to be a good neighbor. This offer is directly related to the safety of Broadland children. Voice your approval of this development at the upcoming June 22 public hearing.

Keep the momentum moving for our new hospital.

AFGM, Great spin....You almost sound like O'Reilly...here's another perspective...I wonder if the $8 million HCA is giving for road improvements has anything to do with the proffer requirements for builders/developers, and not their so called concern for our childrens safety. ;)

The required proffer/improvement is to widen Belmont Ridge from the Greenway to Broadlands Blvd.
Due to concerns raised by the Planning Commission regarding access to the hospital from the south, HCA has come back with a proposal to widen Belmont Ridge from Broadlands Blvd. to Brambleton. This stretch of road has no proffered dollars because the development along it (Villages of Waxpool) was a by-right development that do not provide any road improvement funding.
Is HCA willing to do this out of the goodness of their heart? No, but they are overcoming a concern raised by the county to provide funding for a road improvement that would otherwise remain unfunded.
Given that several Supervisors have identified the widening of Belmont Ridge as one of the county's top road improvement priorities, it will be interesting to watch how they react to this.

    Donna,

You are a great set up artist. Thanks for opening the door to make sure people understand the truth.

The truth is the County only has leverage over someone like BRMC for a proffer on this location. The special exemption, being requested by BRMC, is the leverage.

The land is currently zoned for a commercial entity. No special proffers are required. Zero, nada, NOTHING. There is no requirement for a proffer.

So to answer your question the 8M has nothing to do with a proffer requirement for builders/developers. It has a great deal to do with HCA interest in getting a hospital approved on that site. It just so happens they have chosen a gift that increases the safety of all that travel 659, including Broadlands children that will attend Briar Wood High School.

There is no legimate way for you or Inova/Loudoun Hospital to deny this fact. Admittedly a fact very painful to you and Inova and those who are opposed to the BRMC. It's impossible for this crowd to admit BRMC may be doing something right.

I have a hard time understanding how someone can "sneeze" at an 8M proffer. Maybe the only way to make some happy would be to have BRMC include a swimming pool heater in their offer. [8D]

But then again that would become too "political" for flynnibus.:)
