this is tough. sucks that Cyrus One has to build right here in boradlands. we did pretty good keeping them farther outside this footprint. But, it looks like there is nothing we can do...

This is a letter to me from Sylvia Glass sent on Oct 16th

    Mr. Xyz,

I want to share with you that the CyrusOne Data Center company is planning to present to the Broadlands HOA Board at their meeting tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 17th at 6:00pm virtually. More information and the meeting link are accessible via this link: https://www.broadlandshoa.org/event/board-of-directors-monthly-meeting-3/?instance_id=22233.

While the data center is certainly not what I wanted to develop on this parcel, it is what will be developed under the current zoning after CyrusOne bought it earlier this year for $120 million. I have met with CyrusOne to discuss design elements of their project and will continue to advocate for the Broadlands community in ensuring that this data center blends in with the community as much as possible and that noise levels are minimal. Attached is a PDF showing the initial renderings for the data center that were shown to me in August, but may have changed before the HOA meeting tomorrow.

The Board of Supervisors is also currently taking several efforts through our Zoning Ordinance Rewrite process to address data center development in the county. We are making several changes to the land use laws that will restrict data center development near residential areas and increase the architectural, environmental, and noise requirements for data centers that are allowed to be built. This includes additional setback requirements, glass and building color requirements, noise studies, and landscaping requirements. I will continue to press for data centers to be restricted around residential neighborhoods and have been supporting changes to the ordinance to that effect.

Let me know if I can provide any clarification,

    Sylvia

It will be built at the highest point of Belmont ridge and in the middle of 3 different communities, so people who were pushing for it hopefully will "enjoy" the most , as the noise will be heard miles away.

"In Loudoun County, residents said they could hear the data center even with their windows closed. Some also said it led to anxiety and affected their sleep, mental health, and productivity. Even residents several miles away from the facility complained about the noise.
